  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Anti freeze, dipstick? The engine coolant doesn't have a reservoir and dipstick on these mate, it's an overflow/expansion bottle. If the rads full that's the key thing.

Oh....oops.....how to look like a nob. So why a dipstick in the overflow? I have never heard of this setup. Sorry for the novice questions

Thanks for pointing that out. Just checked now the rad is full and the expansion tank is just under high. The engines cold .

Well, spent the afternoon fitting the new wheels and have to say that I'm glad I waited for them, she looks beautiful and they really make the car stand out again. Got stopped on the way to work by a guy who just wanted to tell me how great she looked and ask the usual " what car is that?" lol..

Everyone at work is saying how much nicer she looks now too so it's big cheesey grins all round today..

Very nice - same as mine; but in gold...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yup - sounds fine mate......

....And be careful about letting anyone else clean your car - after an "incident" at my local MB dealers a few years ago, no-one cleans my cars but me nowadays:wink:

What incident? These fo a great job everytime. I do like to do it myself but i really dlstruggoe for time as i have to do it at work. I can't do it at home as i am on the top floor of flats. Mind you. Would make for good cardio doing all the stairs with a bucket lol

Long story mate - but short version is, after some body repair work, Mercedes' so-called "cleaners" left my (then) new-ish SLK covered in so many swirl marks, it looked like a small animal had ice-skated all over it:mad:

Since then, I insist the garages never clean my cars when they are in for a service - and never take them to any other cleaning facility either!

I totally agree with you Richard. I put my wife's brand new car in for service and they did the same. I was there near the end of their cleaning service and watched with horror as the guy leaned over the roof to shammy it off and slid his beltbuckle right down the side of the door..

Needless to say they ended up repainting the door and as it was new the colour match was identical, but all that hassle just for a clean car just isn't worth it..

Theres something very pheraputic about cleaning and polishing and waxing a car.. Half kills me when I do it but definitely gives me a good feeling when I look at the results..

Yup, had to have the gold Richard. The cars going to be themed red and gold throughout. I've just put the plenum in for powder coating and should have it ready by next weekend. The gold turbo hard pipes are in the process of being hard anodised too. Rocker covers are being shot blasted ready for the candy red powder coating. Once everything is done, they'll be packed away whilst I save for getting it all put together up at automodz.. Still trying to find out the cost of having the rear crank seal done. It's weeping so I'd rather have it done sooner than later. Anyone have any idea of the cost? I know it's a gearbox out job so not expecting it to be pennies..

I'm also getting very stressed with a wet backside lately. The targa are leaking and Im having trouble working out where the leak is. The water seems to be coming in from the gap in the trim that screws on to the windscreen pillar. But it's coming from in front of it not where the targa seals to the pillar?

I'm thinking the water is going below the rubber seal and seeping down in to the trim. In need of some impact adhesive me thinks, or a pair of waterproof trousers..

Ouch . Only once have i had a shop drop the sponge and go to put it back on the car. I intervened b3fore it touched the paintwork

Thanks. Min3 didn't come with an owners manual haha

I just refitted my drivers door interior door handle tri. Finally after trusting the door will behave lol

Been a bit lazy lately, but this evening I fitted Nismo valve caps from CZP. Cheap, small touch, but I like them.

Also have their coil pack connectors to fit but I couldn't figure out what to do with the wiring on the fly and it's now dark.

With a sanding disc I took out all the casting marks, etc, then polished it and went up to a 2500 paper but for powder coating which it as had, going to 400 grit is more than enough.

Took a while but working on a spare is the way to go, if I was to do it again I would do it no different, incredibly happy with it and it's zero maintenance.
