  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

  • These parts turned up from Specialty-Z today. Last significant items for the "bolt on" build. I'll post some more pictures of all the stuff I have collected over the years (literally!) in the "Project

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Replaced the drivers side turbo banjo bolt, it was wrong. So for the last two years I've been over pressurising that turbo with oil. Took it for a test drive, I can honestly say that it's currently no better. Really sick of this car now. Driving it is embarrassing.

Keep your head up Stephen and stick with it mate or if you think it has had it this time then buy another and keep this one for parts. The older these cars get the more members have problems

Is it the same torque converter mate? This is why I just converted to manual the autobox is menace.

No, I used the torque converter I got with the box from slick pete.... Looked a million times better than the one that came off with the old box....

I can only think that the transmission cooler had loads of debris stuck in it and it has worked it's way into the replacement transmission and filter?

The fluid seems to be right at the top of the dipstick after only adding 5 litres when I refilled the replacement box.... fluid on dipstick looks new and clean....

Going to drop the transmission sump and take a look incase it is just the filter..... Tomorrows job though.....

I just need a gasket for the NA auto box now.......

I'm just chasing my tail. The body is/was good. The tubs failed, I rebuilt then, then the engine failed I swapped it, now I've got another turbo failed. Its so annoying and expensive. I just want to drive the damn thing, without plumes of smoke intermittently arising.

Put Mickey Thompsons on. Check pressures and all fluid levels ready for a trip to York Raceway tomorro.

I have not driven the car since TOTB in July so looking forward to a day out

and giving the car some use/abuse.

Weather forecast for York area is dry till later in day:clap:

Went out to check transmission fluid, all seemed okay so went for a little spin.

I broke down again with the exact same problem as last auto transmission..... warmed up, went through gears okay, got a few miles down the road and then she just lost all drive!!

Let her sit for a few minutes and she goes a few hundred yards and loses drive again.....

Had enough now....... Looks like JAE and this year were a pipe dream for me......

For the first time in the 14 years I have had her, I am contemplating selling her and giving up.......

Don't give up just yet mate, you have put so much into it already that you will kick yourself once it's gone, I know from experience after I sold my last TT.

I'm sure you will solve this issue and fall in love with her all over again once it's all running fine again.

C'mon Russ... you have to be at JAE - remember our conversation?!

Haha cool advisory [emoji41] A friend of mine with an Impreza had this advisory on his last MOT:

Cool :)

I had an advisory for an excessively noisey exhaust on my last TT!?

Surely if it was that excessive then it would have failed.

What's the fluid like? Is it still pink? Or has it gone brown?

Looks like it did coming out of the bottle..... pink.... no change and no muck on dipstick....

Going to tackle removing the tranny sump tomorrow to look at the filter...... praying it is just a blocked filter from some muck in the cooler when I changed the transmission.....

Take a step back from it for a bit Russ, you're putting too much pressure on yourself to have it finished within a certain timeframe. This is causing you stress both from a financial and family view. I'm now in the same position as my daily driver packed up, I'm getting grief off the mrs over having to spend extra money at a time when we've none. WE'll both struggle through though:thumbup1:

Picked up my order from CZP on Friday!

Didn't have a chance to fit anything as it was then off down south for the weekend. No problems with the Z whatsoever - and that water-resistant glass was amazing in the rainstorms on the motorway.

Those xenon headlights are fantastic when compared to earier models.

Well dropped the pan and found it was red..... but also black..... and filter clogged up with particles..... so cleaned up everything and going for round 2 tomorrow.....

Hoping it will be okay now she is cleaned out...... going to flush through and give her another try...... fingers crossed....

If not it will be next year before I can afford to sort this out.....

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Went for a spirited drive last night in the Z with some very quick cars in tow. I forgot how much fun it is to drive as most of the time I pootle around just go quick in a straight line lol.

Although I realised how slow the Z was when I went out in my mates supercharged R8 V10, it's like 720bhp so fairly brisk and he drives it well, never been drifting in an R8 before

Russ I've a good condition Torque converter that you can have for nothing (cover postage) if it helps you out?? I scrapped the auto box a couple of years ago as no one wanted it (only had 50k on it) and it had been lying in the garden since 2009!!

Had the wheels aligned yesterday as they were well out, and today fitted a new windscreen motor as the old one was knackered!
