  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Sorry to hear about you wheel mishap Gaz:scared: Hopefully not the end of the world:thumbup1:

They're bloody red!!

Run them through again. Having had experience of Dylon stuff in the past, I'd be surprised if the fibres of the mats are particularly suitable for dyeing.

You might need to try them a few times, and one at a time...!

Sell them mats to Mondo, they will match his red interior! [emoji13]

Ermmmm... no!

I think that's what I'm going to do. Another couple packs, 1 pack per mat...

I'll upload the result in a few days time. Can't be much worse than what I've already done to the poor things.

Think I'd struggle giving them away!

Any pics Baz??

No new pics today Rich! But it's this car, but not on these wheels any more and with the red badge back on!

Well, as it was hot and sunny today I decided to do something on the Z.

First things first, a good wash down and dry with a microfibre. Then out with the mcguires fine finishing Polish. A sweaty hour later she gleaming again but need to Polish the exhausts tips tomorrow.

The inevitable happened yesterday and a headlight bulb blew so I spent an hour trying to get the bulb out and went to the local car spare shop and was told the bulb was a jap spec bulb and I couldn't get one as they never seen one before? So after research I decided to fit the HID kit I had in the shed..

After struggling to find a space under the bonnet for the ballasts they finally were fitted...

The result..... I can now see the road at night! Only thing I noticed is that the beam is facing to the right? Not sure if that's correct but hey I can see, I'm not bothered if the oncoming traffic can lol..

Gonna pay a trip to the zcentre and go see automodz at the same time to get her checked over.. I have a small running issue I think and want the clutch checked as it feels like it's slipping in 2nd under load? Checked under the bell housing and have a little wet patch under there.. Don't think it's clutch fluid as the reservoir still full. ????

Picked the Zed up after an engine transplant at Lee Dent's! She Purrs better than ever right now

Well I got the diff oil changed after flooding my driveway..... I made the mistake of reading the 'how to' on the Australian owners website and followed the instructions...... only to find the 2.8 litres listed for the NA is actually very wrong..... and my driveway was covered as it should have read 1.4 to 1.5 litres......

Driveway wiped up but now needs a deep clean when the Z gets moved off it.....

I also got the middle exhaust section bolted up, the nice newly reconditioned starter wired up.... It only took me an evening to clean the internals of the starter motor, reset and de-burr the brushes, clean the commutator and remove any damage, lubricate with some Ceratec now it should work for a long time to come....

Hopefully tomorrow I will get her finished and fit the new exhaust tailpipes, last 2 bolts holding the top of the engine to the transmission, refit the battery, finish filling the transmission to the correct level, touch in the underseal and get her back on the floor.....

Plus a load of other parts to fit.... lol

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Sounds like the aussies were over compensating or they were talking in pints? Whatever, sounds like your nearly back on the tarmac again.. Good luck with the rest mate..

Lookin good baz. That's a sweet looking zed right there mate.. Think I'm gonna have to find a new house soon. One with a garage so I can work on my zed when she needs it, which fortunately isn't yet.. Got to get an oil change done soon as it's looking a little dirty, still clear enough to see through but i do like to see that golden colour on the dip stick..

What rims you got on the zed now then mate? I'd love to see her running the rims im waiting for at the moment.. She would look great in those shoes... Are you going to jae?

For import Z's you will need a H3c bulb which can only be bought online or from Mike our trader. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H3C-12v-55w-HEADLIGHT-FOG-LIGHT-BULB-FITS-JAPANESE-AMERICAN-IMPORT-CARS-/181603647567?hash=item2a486bc04f

Well after hibernating since February I got my 99 spec Z MOT'd today. Few jobs to do on it then it's up for sale.

Sorry to hear you are selling Baz. Are you bringing it to JAE?

Just realized with this post we have hit 200 pages in this thread and 3981 posts  well done guys and keep them coming.

Edited by Gaz 300

I'm bringing my TT to JAE lol. My 99 spec hasn't really moved since February so it was time to get things moving and get it sold

Outside early and hit another problem.... The 2 bolt flange on the replacement exhaust has been buckled and is banana shaped....

My neighbours must love me trying to straighten it at 9.45 with a lump hammer...... It was like church bells, or at least I tried to make it sound like that in case anyone complained..... lol

My father in law did catch my neighbour out pretending to fiddle with his rear tyre on his car whilst eyeing up my tools at the end of my driveway. Father in law arrived in my close to find him bending down and moving towards my toolbox..... :shifty:

He beat a sudden retreat when he realised he was being watched, got in his car and drove off......

Gotta love an opportunist..... at least someone apart from me has now seen what they also believe to be a bit dodgy..... Maybe we are assuming the worst given our previous problems with him.... :whistling:

Anyway..... The exhaust is now on and as straight as a lump hammer and straight edge will allow on a Sunday morning..... May have another go later today with some heat added....... lol

Off the do bolts on transmission to engine and fluid top up....

Testing when battery is recharged again.....

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Find yourself a good quality, by this I mean a cheap heavy piece of crap from wilkinsons or the like. When you see him eyeing up your tools, launch it at him...exclaim "you want my tools il €$¥%ing give you a tool you pikey piece of ^*+%." :taz:

If that fails, cut his hands off...perfectly reasonable behaviour. On second thoughts with your calves, stamp on his hands

Thanks for that, might have to get a couple incase the HID's blow out sometime. gonna have to upgrade the main beams too cos at the moment they look almost amber in contrast when theyre on.. Haven't checked those bulb types yet but I'm hoping they aren't just as hard to get hold of.. Anyone know what type of bulb they use? I would pull one out but having a lazy day today!

Baz, I might have a buyer interested.. Dont know where you are in the country but a guy who missed out on my other black car gave me his number so I could call him if anyone in the club was selling. What's you're asking price mate? If you're somewhere close enough for him to come I'm sure he'll be interested..

Today, she's had an oil and filter change and a damn good clean - she's now ready to head to that log cabin in Shropshire tomorrow! :thumbup1:
