my fresh built motor is running just great...pulls strong and boosts well but i have a strange one. When the car is sat on idle at 750 rpm and i select drive or reverse the revs seem to stumble for a nano second on the point of stalling then pick up to normal once in gear...the tps is set right, timing set to 15 degree and conzult showing no faults. Now the question i need answerd is ive changed ecu,s for a chipped one but it does not state on the label if its a manwell or auto:confused1: would a manwell ecu give me this problem in my auto?? i know you can use an auto in a manwell and not the other way around but why is this and what is the implications if my ecu is not geared up for auto. Come on zed heads this is doin my nut in and need answers here:rofl:

Strange one mate and sorry I cant help but hopefully someone will be able to answer your question soon. But looking through some old threads would there be any chance of a boost leak?

cheers Gaz...no boost leaks. The auto ecu i think raises the idle for a brief moment while gear is selected. I need to know how this is achieved as my idle drops when gear is selected. Once in gear it idles perfect pulling up to junctions and lights after driven hard or soft.

Iam at a loss mate as its beyond me but I know you will get to the bottom of it.

I believe once your manual the neutral switch is responsible for telling the ecu to advance/retard the timing as and when the car is in gear. Could you take a timing measure with a volunteer knocking it into reverse and out, as it pops in and out the timing should change from 25 to 15 or the other way round not sure.

Did you also clean the idle control valve when you had it out?

yiss gaz

Im pretty certain that the manual ecu in the auto is the issue, due to, as mentioned by zbolt, when autobox is in neutral timing is at 15deg and when a gear selected timing advances to 25deg. I have a similar issue running my now manual box with auto ecu. When i place it into gear the revs change up, which can be sorted with a new chip. Your ecu isnt advancing the timing to compensate.

yea thanks for that Graham...going to check the timing change when gear selected as zbolt and yourself has mentioned and report back for future "searches"

I have this same problem its urges on stalling and did once although its fine when moving mines standard though and has nothing changed
