There are two cables in the front near the power steering fluid pot, these are used to take the feed when you do a manual conversion. cant remember off the top of my head what colour but I could point them out if you get me. I recon you could take a spur from there.

Sure pin44 is neutral switch, and sure it runs to earth when out of gear, no 12v supply there.

U want camera to come on when in reverse id wire it to reverse lights, would be easiest to trace and just run the wire to where u wanna go..

yep your right terry .. i got it wrong its not Pin 44

I may be a bit wrong lol, I ment run to earth when in gear...I think lol...

There is no feed for the reverse light in the ecu as its nothing to do with the running of the engine.

If its for a reverse camera, wire the camera 12v feed into the reverse light wire green/white.

Ok there are no cables in the gear lever area on autos for the reverse gear as it is build into the gearbox quadrant ie: under the car.

Also Nissan wired the reverse lights with a direct ignition live feed to the reverse bulbs, the switch in the gearbox switched the earth / neutral return.

If your camera can be switched by a an earth / neutral signal then you can connect direct into the circuit, if it requires a live switch then you can use a polarity convertor and use the same circuit,

Note:Pin 44 on the engine ecu is for the neutral switch not the reverse switch, you can pick up the reverse signal under the bonnet or at the reverse light itself but the easiest is at the ecu for the autobox: pin no 20 have attached a pin out for you below.

okay so i am clear if i connect to pin 20 will i get a 12v feed i do not want to introduce a polarity converter, if not then ill need to run a cable back from the rear lights into the head unit to provide the feed required dont mind which but i need clarity . next question is where is the auto box ecu located .

thanks

Pin 20 is an earth signal, the 12v power to the reverse lights is ignition switched so if you do need a switched 12v signal supply that will not help, however if you just want the camera to power up when in reverse rather than the camera be triggered then you can pick up any 12v supply and use the pin 20 to switch the camera on/off.

The ecu for the autobox is to the left of the engine ecu in the passenger footwell.

The camera is a totally separate entity to your head unit, you only need run the signal to the head unit from the camera and take the 12v from the reverse light feed, close to where the camera will be situated. The head unit automatically senses and switches the screen when the feed from the camera is powered, put in reverse.

you are making unnecessary work for yourself the way you are looking at it lol.

yep groover thats what i thought , then when i tested it bugger all happened, tis when my son noticed a purple wire on the head unit saying reverse switch, so i put two and two together and came up with the thought that it needs to receive a signal to switch the head unit display over

I kept it simple on our van (25ft'er) and just had the reverse camera permanently wired into a 12v source in the rear (it's wireless so no long lengths of coax needed for the video signal). We then wired the cabs LCD monitor into a permenent 12v source under the dash (secondary lighter socket).

The monitor has an On/Off switch so we just switch the monitor on before we need to reverse, rather than messing about with tapping into the various multicoloured wires on the loom

Basic to get it working

Switched from head unit

So with the info you have, wire camera up as diagram 1 and wire the reverse wire of the head unit to pin 20 on the auto ecu as Jeff posted and job done.
