Hi, do i need a new pump? symptoms are as follows, while idle steering makes a whirring sound,, checked oil oil ok, but noticed a kink in one of the outlets of the resevoir, so i replaced and its still the same. any suggestions? tightening maybe?

have you bled the system? turn the wheel full lock to full lock slowly about 10 times with motor running and it should purge the lines

I know i need a new power steering pump cos bearing are gone :) just don`t know what`s cheaper good old pump or new bearings :) but i know it`s not a belt

Not much of a help on the advice if you have bled the system. I have a pump available for a good price if needed although posting could be expensive as they are bloody heavy. Came off a TT auto 91.

yes definatly bleed the system out, jack the front end up, and rock the wheels from lock to lock slowly with the cap off and the strainer out, if air bubbles come up as you turn its got an air lock. speed it up, if you go too fast to soon it will spill over, keep topping up then once it stops bubbling turn the engine on and repeat.

as far as rebuilding the pump is concerned its a piece of piss, cheaper than buying new but not cheaper than a second hand one.

Ok, will try purge first, if no joy, will have to get a pump. mine is auto also , Osty1 i'll be in touch about pump tomorow if required, , i assume paypal for payment?

Normal ATF for pump....DOT4 for brakes...oil 10/40 semi (your choice of brand) and a genuine nissan oil filter and good to go.
