good point and i do not have a clue mate..

made up name a believe, slicktops are simply the base model, its like buying a car and not opting for the sunroof. a na manual slick top is the so called poverty spec, just so turns out its the lightest and strongest shell.

So was the tt manual slicktop in japan cheaper than a swb targa model of the same spec when new .Im not so sure about a slicktop being the base model mine had loads of extras pearl paint light rear panel etc.

yeah that's what ive always been led to believe a lwb auto was the highest priced model. ironically the priced have flipped the opposite way.

Its an american thing , all manner of muscle cars over there are called Verts in their soft top guise.

Americanism I suppose short for convertable, were as you say here we naturally say softtop.
