Got a day off tomorrow so planning to do a bit on the car. I've got a replacement propshaft, just the front half, to fit. Anyone got any advice or tips on fitting it? I know I have to drop the exhaust.

take your exhaust off if there is very little room ... all so depends if you have the heat shield there to ..

when taking the bolts off the center yoke u may want to get someone int he car with foot on the brake peddle

stop the prop from turning

Thanks Mark. I did put the car up on ramps this avo and realised how little room there is. Looking solid under there though so that's good. Gona underseal it aswel while its on the ramps.

Mixing different propshaft sections can lead to vibration as they are normally balanced in one piece.

Thanks Jeff, gotta give it a try anyway seeing how I have the part. If it doesn't work I'll be after a single prop.

Can you just change the centre bearing? Save mixing the two parts together?

Well I haven't got a new one, its in the half of the spare prop. Is it easy to remove or can it not be done?

I'll be honest mate, either way is going to need a bit of luck as you don't know the condition of the bearing. I would still go for the bearing though. Soak the bearing area with wd40 or another penetrating oil and allow time. For centre bearing removal, I do it this way:

Remove exhaust and heat shield, you will need to give the shield a good old wiggle to get it over the rear of the front down pipes. MARK A LINE ALONG THE JOINTS IN THE PROP AND THE GEARBOX to allow for realignment. The car will obviously be up in the air with handbrake on. Remove 2 of the UJ bolts, take off handbrake and rotate prop to get to the other 2 bolts,19 mm I think. Leave one bolt in with the nut on. Remove the centre bearing housing bolts x2, taking notice where the large shims sit x2 supporting the weight of the PROP. Undo last uj bolt and split the PROP and remove the forward portion along with the bearing.

I have been lucky with one bearing that fell off the PROP AND another where I had to tap it off, lightly of course. Let us know how you get on.

Cheers mate that's gonna be a big help. I did get the propshaft off Baz so I'm confident the centre bearing will be in good shape.

Will post back up how I get on, hopefully I can stop the shakes.

Haha, that helps to stop them!

Well got under the car today and could see the whole propshaft was not in the best condition so decided not to remove it as it would probably be a waste of time. Gona fit a single prop now instead, I think it'll be well worth the money. Managed to get the car under sealed before the rain started. Quite a messy job to do but not as bad as I thought, plus you get to lie down all day.

I'm glad I left it now. Happy it's now all undersealed, looks great, shame no one can see it.
