Hmmm.

Only had the car a couple of days and I guessed I would have a few little probs.

Now excuse my lack of knowledge, but I think my TTmanual is running safety boost.

It seems to *really* fly, but that is relative (relative to the fact I have never driven a zTT).. The boost gauge wont go above 6/7..

What should it read in a full-on, flat out kill the porsche at the lights situation??

Apologies for not searching thru the forum but it's late and i'm tired frown.gif

I read somewhere that the gauge should hit 10/11 and if it doesn't it's stuck in safety.

Any pointers would help smile.gif

Also, I find that the HICAS light comes on after about 20 minutes of driving at 80mph and above... should I worry/drive slower/re-mortgage the family cat???

Other than that I can't fault it.

Peace and lotz of boost

Glen.

ps-Hope everyone has a good bank holiday, wheather you are nosing around SE or sippin bud on a beach smile.gif

Sounds like safety-boost..

It should go up to the 3rd positive line on the stock boost-gauge. (which is around 10psi)...although the stock boost-gauges are usually crap.

I think it's best to do an ECU-diagnostic to see if there's something wrong with the detonation-sensor or temp-sensor.

Not sure on readings on the gauge for safety boost but I don't think that your comments a couple of days ago are consistent with safety boost. The smile on your face was too big ! The stock gauge is notoriously bad. A good tuner will have an accurate boost gauge which can be hooked up very quickly and held in the car to check.

Stock boost is only 9 psi so it would only need to be reading a couple of psi out to be a problem.

As for HICAS, the most common cause of the HICAS light is low power steering fluid. I tended to need to top mine up every few months. If the fluid level is high, it might be worth a refresh of fluid. This sorted out the problem for me (although I couldn't "feel" any difference).

Only odd thing is that HICAS light is more common when the fluid is cold. But give it a go.

Good luck

Dave

Hmmmm, the HICAS light! Check to see if your steering wheel is straight when you're driving in a straight line. When mine was out by one spline I got exactly the symptoms you described. I think it is because the HICAS uses the steering wheel angle to calculate the rear wheel angle. If the wheel is offset then it thinks you are constantly steering for twenty minutes or so and assumes a fault somewhere, then shuts down.

Hope this helps,

Andy

Thanks for your comments Eric, Dave 'n Andy!

Ill get the diagnostic on the ECU looked at.

As for the HICAS, well Andy, you Sir are spot on m8 smile.gif

The wheel on my Zed is off centre by a spline. I shall jolly well take it off and re-aline it, so I will smile.gif

I have checked the fluid and it seems ok but I'll double check and drop a bit more in.

Long may your turbos boost and your number plates not show up on VASCAR.

Glen.
