Hi guys has above helping oobumblebeoo with his engine rebuild,

Just wanted a bit of advice, stripped all 24 of the hydraulic lifters cleaned and rebuilt them done this to lots of other cars but mainly 4pots that if there was a problem could strip it back down in no time,

But being a zed not that easy lol,

Normally id just use tiny smear of oil or lube so there not dry put it back together and let it build its oil up incase I put to much in and end up with valves staying open.

Anyone built the lifters or know if thats wrong to do on a zed..

All the rest has gone well, changed all the stem seals, re ground all the valves what a mission 24 of the buggers..

Put his new 525 turbos on and new oil feeds..

Misses wants to kill me cause done it in the kitchen, bit cleaner then my garage.

Well incase oobumblebeoo is reading a couple of pics for him to see..

Yeah they fill spongy, so u reckon put some more oil in them to they dont, or will it build up on its own when started.

Just ive had it before holding a valve open.

So normally do it this way rattles for few secs then goes quiet.

u be fine ... was they ok before taking the engine apart ?

Yeah they were fine before but i just wanted to make sure they were clean etc.

Done it loads of times before just making sure on the zed its the same its not my engine and I dont wanna strip it down again lol.

They wasn't spongy either I checked before taking apart, the oil pressures should pump them up ..I hope..

thats right ... when u take them out they all should be hard .. theres a Hole on the Side ( IN ) and a hole on the top ( Out ) but if i remember right it acts like a one way valve

lifters should be stored fully submerged in clean engine oil right side up...place them in a tray or bowl and after a day or so the air pocket underneath goes up and bleeds the old oil out and fills them with new oil.

Yeah its got a little ball in there too, like u said oil looks to come through head through hole in the side of lifter and out the hole in the top which looks to lube the cam lobe.

I think filling it with oil could hold valve open and better to have less and engine pump them up. I'll see hoe it goes when it starts better not have to strip it again to fill with oil I know what these zeds are like they allways wanna be different. .

Hows your car going, all stripped poor car lol

Engine not having top on for couple days most likely, looking at weather here.

To finish building need bits from engine in the car.

So u reckon do what u say, or u think they be ok.

Cheers for reply.

yeah thats another way but the Fill hole is on the side half way up .. but all so have a valve in them

Terry engine is on stand with items off it IE tubs/pulleys Plenum but thats about it ... it was to dam cold the other day to work on it

Will have it all stripped on sunday for sure

Thats why I done the engine in my kitchen lol its warm, yeah think I'll just leave them lifters alone read on the net quickly and says if u leave them in oil they can fill right up and they wont squeeze and can hold valve open.

Most people say empty them and let engine fill it up,

Hope it goes right lol.

^^^^^^ thats exactly how i store them Bri,best way ive found,as long as they are kept vertical the air bleeds out.
