OK,

Theres been alot of discusion recently on or about the forum rep system and how its works so heres a breakdown !

Firstly theres two parts :

Rep Level: How much reputation points they have currently received from other users.

Rep Power: How much power (points) the user gives when they give reputation to another user.

Starting of with Rep Level;

Your Rep Level is the green bars to the left under your title and its basically a points system.

The points and green bars are grouped by the following rules :

Rep_Level_Settings.JPG

If you take Stellaz for an example he has 8 green bars as he currently has 728 rep points and his quote shows "Stellaz is a splendid one to behold"

His Rep Power is made from the following rules :

Rep_Power_Settings.JPG

Again Stellaz has a Rep Power of 41 which is calulated using the above rules :

For every 365 days of being a user Stellaz gains 1 point of power which is about 8 points so far

For every 1000 posts Stellaz gains 1 point of power which is currenly 25 points

For every 100 points of reputation that Stellaz has he gains 1 point of power which currently is 7

So those 3 together give him a Rep Power of 40 !

Now I know Stellaz Rep is actually 41 and that's more than likely because the points above actually round up from a percentage point as his posts are actually just shy of the next target.

So now you all know; please feel free to Rep me for letting you into this top secret :whistling:

Any Questions ?

So in essence if your a Post Whore and have been registered for a long time your Rep will be higher than most !

Not true i have been registered longer then stella, have half his posts but in essence probably more research information

based , than how much did i drink this weekend type of posts, and the rep bar is non exsistant in my profile. So its a pile of rubbish and falsifying peoples position.

Its up to any member of the fourm to give you rep mate we have no control over it.

I know but for instance, i habe a rep of 22 you have 23 i gave been here 4 years longer than you, our post count is similar but you have a full green bar when have only 2 ( it was zero the other day)figure that out :-)

Don't worry, you will become famous soon enough

I think your getting confused with Rep Level and Rep Power !

You know show 2 bars as I enabled your rep as it was somehow disabled in your control panel.

Rep Power is a multiplier of Rep Level and if Gary has more Rep Level because people have given him good Rep

then his will be significantly higher than yours.

Theres no way to cheat the system per say so I don't think from a newby point of view we are hiding or making anything up.

The committee and mods do have more rep power but that's only because the post more or have been here for sometime and

the fact they are mods they're more likely to get rep from people than the average user.

To see your actual Rep Level go into your own settings and it doesn't show at the side bar and then you can work it out

using the table above.

theres only three things needed to calculate your Rep Power and its easy to do :

number of full years with the club equals one point per year.

number of 1000 posts in your post total equals one point per 1000 posts.

lastly 1 point for every 100 Rep Level points.

Rep Power is what is given if said user wants to give Rep to someone else's posts.

The green bar scale for the first three or four blocks is low range so it can change quickly going up to bars worth

more point so they get added less frequently.

i think it's a great system as it shows who commits to the club more often and gets rep for it.

Rant over.

i use the rep system all the time, ive repped lots of people for good posts, i dont just do it for zed related posts but also for community spirit posts after all if we have no community spirit then we dont have a good forum

i may have talked a lot of crap in the past but the rep system is a new thing and although i have recieved rep for the amount of posts and time spent i have recieved a lot from helping others

i used to have it in my sig about the rep thing, maybe why i have more?

i do think its down to how popular you are on the forums (says a lot about people who have little rep lol) but i give rep to anyone who i think deserves it for whatever reason not for how popular they are

its a good system that helps community spirit, if you dont use it then dont slag it off and moan that you have fewer green bars than anyone else

Im just saying it dont mean sod all. But as a newbee it might give them false creditation to a member

So if a newbie looks at my rep they will get a false creditation of how helpfull I am is that what you are saying mate? I think you are taking it to serious or maybe because its late on a Saturday night you have had a few drinks and not thinking straight lol (sorry if you are sober) Any member here that knows you will know how helpfull you are and you are right up there with the most helpfull members we have so I hope after this they give you more rep mate and I will start it of now for all the help you have given me over the years.:thumbup1:

How do u give someone rep looks like I have 6 lol,

Didnt even know they were there or how to do it.

I agree with that statement Allan - the rep thing is a two way street and there is no disputing the effort you put into this club mate......

Have some Rep for that !

.....and some more!!

Also, and no doubt Lee will advise, I believe the whole rep system started from zero for everyone from when we upgraded the forum from the old format. We used to have the old "forum feedback" for buying and selling but that has now gone. Hence there appears to be confusion compared to when certain members signed up...

Correct,

There was an old Rep system but it was tied into the old garage and to be honest it was more like a glorified comments page.

When we swapped over to the new system everyone level was back dated from the day they joined as a normal user and new

users from that day forth that have signed up start at zero.
