Seeing as a Series 4 Turbo does not have a boost gauge in the clocks and things have developed for me now to fit one as I have acquired 3 clocks in total over the years so I have lots of spares.

I have had to fit the stock oil pressure gauge as the EL dial I had in this location was damaged and no longer lit up and also the needle as never been possible for it to sit correctly on zero .

This now looked odd mainly colour wise and out of balance so I carefully cut away the speedo EL sheet and fit a stock boost gauge to show through this now created space.

It looks grand now, both may be stock black against the other EL ones but I am happy but the boost gauge does not work and I need to know why not please?

It is bolted in to the clock carcass/circuit board with it's 4 screw bolts so therefore is connected with the car loom - is it possible to make it work?

I have an aftermarket boost gauge and a profec II so I don't really need it and I go well over 14psi but I would like it to move about !!

Well my method to accomplish this task was to buy all of the gauges brand new from nissan one by one and buy and gut a used 94+ cluster and swap over the guages to the 2kspec ones. The wiring con

Your missing the sender !

The wiring for the series four is there but the pumbing isn't.

Find yourself a sender and some vac pipe and hook it up, check for the spare plug taped up need the drivers side of the plenum near the fuses.

I will locate in the morning.

Spare plug Lee? So that's for the senders electrics?

I need a sender from a breaker then?

Goodness me, even with falling sales, it seems everything is almost there why the eck did Mr NISSAN do away with tiny bits to penny pinch .

that's the one !

Great

The sender as a place then for a vac line, have I got that correct Lee and I just tee this in from an existing line?

A pic from someone showing what's going on will be good to see please.

Thank you.

Great

It does mate, as you say just plug in a vac line from the sender to the BB and your done.

Finally got the boost solenoid this morning and having cut down some bolts all is now bolted and plumbed in :cool3:

Sure this is how it should be on the clocks but someone please confirm, ignition on and the needle sets itself at zero, start the engine and I get vacuum at about -5, sorned so only tested on the drive but with a good meaty rev it does move slightly towards zero, then turn off and the needle rests at -7 .

Looks like I no longer need to explain why my Turbo doesn't have a boost gauge on the dash .

One more thing what is the box underneath?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but how the bloody hell did you do this Andy?!? Just pulled my series 4 clocks apart and I can't see how you bolted the boost gauge on, there are the outlines of the 4 bolt holes in the white rear section but they don't line up with any connections on the back.

Also I swear I saw somewhere that you had a mph face on your clocks? Or am I wrong? How did you do it? Or did you just swap the face? I'm reluctant to do that as I'm worried about getting the needle right again

Ah right, so you reckon there will be something out there that would bolt into my series 4 that would take a boost gauge? Series 3 maybe?

Ooo nice, cheers. Would you mind pm'ing me some pictures so I can double check it will fit?

Swapped the whole clock unit likely for one that had the boost gauge.

Initially in this thread i had those EL dials and so i migrated in the boost gauge from a set of clocks i did buy, the reason i didn't use the whole unit must of been at the time i was happy with the EL ones.

The mph thing could be another set of EL dials from MOMAN i had bespoke made.

Up to date though.......i did buy another complete oe cluster and that is the one i'm currently using.

Do you reckon it was a series 3 carcass you bolted it into then?

Series 3 and after are all the same connectors :)

To connect to the car yes, just looking for confirmation about the boost gauge and whether it does bolt into a series 3 cluster as you suggested

If you can find the part to fit yours

And that's where you come in hopefully! :-P

All my carcasses are the same, the tell tale for me with later clocks are the square tabs at the bottom, whether you want to say some of these are from a S3 car, then i just don't know.

Series 3 to me has always been a mix up of parts of series 2 and 4, what car from the factory have i got my clocks from ? They are scarce i'll grant you but i have acquired 2 over the years.

Having a boost gauge was it an optional extra in the later years ? I know you could of got the digital climate control for extra - the standard fit was the manual pod.

Here are the said tabs and the rear on one of my spare clusters, all my plastic pcb's are like this...

This picture shows the gauge in my perfectly working spare clocks with the MOMAN el faces, these were not a straight fit because they knew nothing about the later clocks....

This below is the shape of face for the S4 clocks, these are completely different to the earlier series clocks, this sits in a blue tray when fitted....

These are the four screw holes for the gauge, screwing them in makes the contacts.....

Thanks for the detailed post, so it's not the earlier series boost gauge you are using, it's actually from the lasted series? I didn't realise that, I thought you were fitting the early boost gauge somehow!

Morning all, just came across this thread - the attached picture shows the rear of my clocks (the blue one). Looks like it has the tracks for mounting a boost gauge, but there is no external connector attached at top right like there is in phutumsch’s picture. Does this look like a S4 boost gauge would work if I could find one and plumb it in? Thanks
