Hi guys wanted a bit of advice.

Bought some 2k paint and painted my brake calipers in my garage.

Which they came out ok, but they didn't dry hard so thought we'll it must be to cold so put them in my house oven in the kitchen.

Which has worked and there hard now.

But been reading on the net and everyone saying this stuff is lethal, I allways where a mask and normally use cellulose.

Really worried now will the oven be ok to use again for food I've cleaned it right out. Was reading and it says u can't grow food or anything in my garden etc..

Is this true...

My mask is a twin cartridge one not a throw away one, will that be ok or am I gonna be ill.

And can I go in my garage anymore.

Sorry for questions can't get a straight answer on the net, and worried so thought I'd ask here has we all mess with cars.

Any advice appreciated.

well send the missus in there untill its safe again...

ive baked 2k stuff in the oven before and still using the oven, and also have a twin filter mask never had any problems, i used to work in car body repairs and the oven was recommended by them if i didnt have access to a proper bake oven. once the spray dust has settled its fine to go back in to the garage.

You will be fine mate. The activater/hardner is the toxic part of the 2 parts, it contains cyanide, which can be lethal if exposed to for great amounts of time.

The twin filter mask should be ok, depends on the type of filter, it has, there is one designed for 2K. The toxicity is at its worst airborne and will be fine once hardened.

Ive sprayed loads of 2K in my garage and leave the doors open for a while after the paint has started to harden, not just to get rid of the overspray, but the smell can be a bit pungent, even after a couple of days.

2K is supposed to be slightly better than celly in colder conditions, but ideally best to spray anything in a warm dry environment.

Hopefully they will look good with my car there the same white has the car.

Cause my new wheels have black centres thought the white will go well, bet they get dirty quick.

Well if I'm still alive tomorrow, gonna do the rears and then paint engine bay.

Think I'll call me bro in law to paint the bay, rather him then me lol.

true story

was standing outside a pub on chrimbo eve after a few (canny few pints) and i was getting stuck into a carton of chips, woman came out and stood next to me (some old skank) offered her a chip and she took one, her hubby or boyfriend came out and seen, he was ok and had a chat, asked if he wanted one and his reply was

"nah mate, wouldnt eat those (long pause as he lit his ciggarette) you can have a heart attack eating them"

moral of the story is, a quick sniff of cyanide aint gonna kill ya, but a life time of coffin sticks might just lol

Hate Google, they make everything seem the worse, that's why I asked here knew I'd get a straight answer.

The way Google was going I'd buy a new oven so know the misses and kids are safe.

Thanks for your reply..
