Hello all,

Just bought my self my 2nd 300ZX, I'll be honest I'm a trader and I actually bought this to sell it on but I have kinda fallen in love with it, I think it's even gone above my rx7 and s2000 on my favorites list which I never saw coming.

I saw it on ebay and on a whim emailed to see if he would swap for my diesel Jag, 3 hours later I had the car sat on my drive and now I am doing the little bits it want's to make it sparkling again.

So it's a 1994 Manual TT 2+2 in pearl white and from what I can see the outside is almost standard apart from the alloys and several subtle mods like clear repeaters.

How ever once you get under the engine and inside it's a different story and I was wondering if any 1 may be able to help,

It's done 77'000 on the clock and I assume those are in KM's as it is an import, there's a bit of paper work but most of it is Japanese and I have a bill made out to John for £994 for a service last year. This was not at a Nissan dealership and it has a list of things done including egr valve cap and the engine taken to bit's. Under the bonnet is full of blue silicone hoses, a race rad (I believe it's alloy) a strut bar a very big aftermarket air filter, a full exhaust system.

On the inside is short shift gear set up, blitz access ecu, blitz turbo timer, apexi avcr electronic boost control. Full custom white leather interior including dash center console etc, oil temp gauges, Full fusion sound system (sounds awesome) After market interior lighting (not flashy just a nice off white light) aftermarket blue light clocks, Blue bulbs for all the instruments etc, even 300zx kick plates on the door that light up green.

The hicas has been removed and in any gear where the motor is within boost it's very hard to get the power down without losing the back end and I am wondering with the known above mods (rad, full exhaust, boost controller plus ecu, airfilter) what kind of BHP 1 might be expecting the car to run?

I've had a lot of car's including a 330 BHP Rx7, an s2000 and a newer STI subaru with the Prodrive pack putting 0-60 at 4.2/4.5 seconds and if I am honest this feels like it would pull from all of them if I could get the power down. I am tempted to have it put on a dyno run but what with knowing so little about the car other than having an expensive service and the oil being like new I don't really want to risk it. If the Mileage is genuine ( I don't see why it would not be) then it's done under 50,000 miles.

So would any 1 of any idea on the above or if the previous owner (john) was a member on here assume 1 has spent £1000's of pound's on this and I would love to know if they did it or if it was done in Japan. I am told by the guy I buoght it off that he picked it up off him because he had caught it on a pole and it had upset him and made him want to sell.

When I got the car it needed the following and almost all have been done,

Sound system head unit was broken so that has been replaced (currently trying to get a Dab in there also) needed 2 rear tyres and full tracking (when it went for tyres and tracking I found out it had fully adjustable Koni suspension and looks to have been set up for track/drift use running -2 camber(it does correct easily)) It's just had new LED bulbs to replace the old yellowish ones and I bought carbon wrap (white) to go around the center console as some 1 has damaged the paint on it. The main bit would be that it needed £500 of paint down 1 side due to what I would say is a bit of poor drifting into a Ballard but I was told the removal of the hicas made him forget about the way the car turns. Cleaned all the leather with expensive Leather treatment and redyeing cream.

The only thing I have left to fix is the drivers side window regulator as it doesn't work. But everything else including the heated seats, folding mirrors, all the buttons you name it it's spot on.

The Reg is L82peo if any 1 can help me out, I am seriously considering keeping this car and I don't like to cheap out on something of this nature and would rather have anything it needs doing done rather than find out afterwards. Could some 1 post me a link to the benefits of being a member also as I would want to if I keep it and are there many members near Sheffield. Best Regards James

O last thing, while replacing the light bulbs, I cannot figure out what the yellow bulbs are for next to the front indicators? They are in the same housing and are on the very side, the bulbs seem in tact but I cannot see how to turn them on or what they are for since the side light bulbs are in the fog light housing...

They are curb lights and should come on when you indicate on either side.

Hey, thanks. So they should come on flashing with the indicators or just stay on? I have yet to see them on on when putting hazards on or anything. seen some pics with them just lit up like they are similar to side lights?

They will stay lit for as long as the indicator is blinking, one side at a time, hazards will not trigger them on.

Many like myself do away with this and use them as sidelights as it gives a wider look, see my sig below, hence lighting the curbs 24/7 but they don't really !!

Welcome and nice car by the way, wheels look lovely :thumbup1:.

Hey, Thanks for that. I may rewire then to come on with the side lights too and stick a white bulb in rather than yellow. Had the same wheels on my FD but if I am honest they are not my favorite, I really like yours! Also mine are 19inch which is a pain for costs but surprisingly they fit without touching anything.

Of course you have to have the sidelights or headlights on as we'll as an indicator to get the curb light on.

They were only on later cars ( my m does my j doesn't ) so if someone has replaced the light units on an early car they may do nothing

Welcome! Looks like a nice Zed you have there :)

You've got Altia light up sills - lucky boy !!!!!!!!!

Always feel a LWB needs a rear spoiler though but yes very nice, interior looks to of been well done but glove box as not been done :thumbup1:.

Having just been fiddling in this area I took a pic of my 1994 Jap and here is the wire, this becomes live when headlights/dipped are on and you indicate that side, of course it needs to be connected to a bulb - which is what I have been doing but more on that tomorrow !!

As you can see it comes down sheathed with the two indicator wires, it as never been connected up in my ownership so I don't really know what it looked like in this area when it left the factory.

Hey again, Hope it's ok to link that. Need to fund my 240z I want it finished this summer!

Normal 1.3 bar??? Unless you have hd the car tuned by Noz 1.3 bar ain't normal at all. Think you need to do a little research looks to me like another car ad claiming bhp but nothing to deliver it.

You're a helpful chap... Would it be Psi? Either way it's normally 1.3 on the controller and was only running 0.9 that day. So thanks for being helpful and all that, but maybe you could sod off.

As well yes you can't sell unless you are registered. 1.3 psi my farts make 20 times that

Edited to say 9/13 psi... Not sure how you figure the numbers are made up, I have a print out for the 316... with the issue's. Unlikely to make figures up when 316 is impressive enough. Seems you need your coffee

You have another 'big blue bar' - is this a front strut brace and Tokyo Auto branded?

If so there's some on here that will be very interested in that :cool3:.

1.3 BAR is easily achievable but with some mods, 1 BAR is the norm for a stock engine which by the sounds of it is what you have.

Cheers for reply's you 2 I will have a look at those codes and check, as for the big blue bar I'll take a look at that too when I get a minute. It looked like it could be a strut bar but i was not sure, Can't see how it would fasten on, Maybe I can take a picture. As for engine I have no idea without taking it apart, would not suprise me if it was all modded as well but I have no proof so I am not going to make stuff up. But it don't half shift! Don't really want to sell it at all, but money timing and other stuff is making it an expensive toy for me right now.
