Just bought my self my 2nd 300ZX, I'll be honest I'm a trader and I actually bought this to sell it on but I have kinda fallen in love with it, I think it's even gone above my rx7 and s2000 on my favorites list which I never saw coming.
I saw it on ebay and on a whim emailed to see if he would swap for my diesel Jag, 3 hours later I had the car sat on my drive and now I am doing the little bits it want's to make it sparkling again.
So it's a 1994 Manual TT 2+2 in pearl white and from what I can see the outside is almost standard apart from the alloys and several subtle mods like clear repeaters.
How ever once you get under the engine and inside it's a different story and I was wondering if any 1 may be able to help,
It's done 77'000 on the clock and I assume those are in KM's as it is an import, there's a bit of paper work but most of it is Japanese and I have a bill made out to John for £994 for a service last year. This was not at a Nissan dealership and it has a list of things done including egr valve cap and the engine taken to bit's. Under the bonnet is full of blue silicone hoses, a race rad (I believe it's alloy) a strut bar a very big aftermarket air filter, a full exhaust system.
On the inside is short shift gear set up, blitz access ecu, blitz turbo timer, apexi avcr electronic boost control. Full custom white leather interior including dash center console etc, oil temp gauges, Full fusion sound system (sounds awesome) After market interior lighting (not flashy just a nice off white light) aftermarket blue light clocks, Blue bulbs for all the instruments etc, even 300zx kick plates on the door that light up green.
The hicas has been removed and in any gear where the motor is within boost it's very hard to get the power down without losing the back end and I am wondering with the known above mods (rad, full exhaust, boost controller plus ecu, airfilter) what kind of BHP 1 might be expecting the car to run?
I've had a lot of car's including a 330 BHP Rx7, an s2000 and a newer STI subaru with the Prodrive pack putting 0-60 at 4.2/4.5 seconds and if I am honest this feels like it would pull from all of them if I could get the power down. I am tempted to have it put on a dyno run but what with knowing so little about the car other than having an expensive service and the oil being like new I don't really want to risk it. If the Mileage is genuine ( I don't see why it would not be) then it's done under 50,000 miles.
So would any 1 of any idea on the above or if the previous owner (john) was a member on here assume 1 has spent £1000's of pound's on this and I would love to know if they did it or if it was done in Japan. I am told by the guy I buoght it off that he picked it up off him because he had caught it on a pole and it had upset him and made him want to sell.
When I got the car it needed the following and almost all have been done,
Sound system head unit was broken so that has been replaced (currently trying to get a Dab in there also) needed 2 rear tyres and full tracking (when it went for tyres and tracking I found out it had fully adjustable Koni suspension and looks to have been set up for track/drift use running -2 camber(it does correct easily)) It's just had new LED bulbs to replace the old yellowish ones and I bought carbon wrap (white) to go around the center console as some 1 has damaged the paint on it. The main bit would be that it needed £500 of paint down 1 side due to what I would say is a bit of poor drifting into a Ballard but I was told the removal of the hicas made him forget about the way the car turns. Cleaned all the leather with expensive Leather treatment and redyeing cream.
The only thing I have left to fix is the drivers side window regulator as it doesn't work. But everything else including the heated seats, folding mirrors, all the buttons you name it it's spot on.
The Reg is L82peo if any 1 can help me out, I am seriously considering keeping this car and I don't like to cheap out on something of this nature and would rather have anything it needs doing done rather than find out afterwards. Could some 1 post me a link to the benefits of being a member also as I would want to if I keep it and are there many members near Sheffield. Best Regards James
