I thought I'd share this with you to gauge your thoughts.....

I have just switched insurance companies from Lynbrooks to Lancaster - who provided me with the same Equity Red Star policy for over £30 less, including an agreed valuation. So after sending them a few pictures of the car, Lancasters came up with an agreed value of £4,250. What do you think?

It's a tidy 1994 L-reg UK spec auto; no rust, 86k miles (with old MOTs etc), mild upgrades like wheels, Meister Rs, air filter, exhaust and the Stillen front lip.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

mines on an agreed valuation . they sent the forms to me to get them signed off from a garage / specialist . im sure yours has been under valued rich

Sounds a little cheap, would you really be able to find a 94 UK car for that price?

Cheers Andy,

initially I was not unhappy with their assessment - as I'd thought something like £4500 based upon what some Zs are up for sale at (of course what they actually go for is a different matter)! Perhaps I should seek another opinion before just accepting the policy on that basis....

Not far off. IMO

in reallity insurers will only give you the very lowest amount that they can get away with but if you do have a higher agreed valuation at least it gives you a better place to start when the haggleing begins . reach for the stars rich and if you only hit the clouds so be it

one clause in my insurance was they would only replace my aftermarket wheels if stolen with new standard wheels . what a result that would be . just out of interest does anyone know how much a set of wheels from nissan would be . i dont but im guessing a couple of grand

Haven't seen it in person only photos but would have said 5-6k. Personally i'd be pi55ed if I had an accident and only got 4.5k for a tidy car like that. Do you think you could get a well maintained Zed for that much?

Joking aside as I was in post 3, I think it's realistic from a strangers valuation, I know it would sit more comfortable with you at 5k but just don't give them the opportunity to pay you out .

Why don't you get an agreed valuation from the ZClub? Equity Red Star will accept a valuation certificate from a

recognised specialist car club.

Sorry for going of topic Andrew but I have just been in your garage and that is a very nice UK 300ZX you have there. Love the way you have a dual hks filters and mafs plus that is a tidy speaker build in your boot.:thumbup1:

I'd also put yours a little higher Richard, but £4500 against current market prices isn't too shabby. Get it revalued in a year or two and it will no doubt creep up :)

Thanks guys - some good points all round there!!

As Slick Pete says, it does sound about right; but as Vijay (and others) said, would I easily be able to find a tidy rust free UK spec 300zx for that price if the worst happened?
