I have removed my turbos off the engine today ready to send off to be refurbed.

I have a standard pair of auto ones off the breaker I had, which we were going to use to get refurbed then put on my car, but company I am using said could not do auto tubs!!!

I thought there was a physical difference between auto and manwell tubs, but as the pictures show these look identical!!

My 2 are on the right the one off my breaker is on the left.

The difference is all internal I'm afraid mate.

Oh really that puts my mind at rest....I was under the impression all the talk of auto tubs being smaller ment there physical size:laugh:

Off to the company Monday As planned:nana2:

its only the Comp turbine wheel thats slightly smaller .. other than that the tubs are identical

:clap:Thanks Mark...for a minute I thought I was going to be adding new turbos to my z1 order:pinch:

The Auto turbos should have a smaller .54 A/R turbine housing and the manuals a larger .63 A/R housing.

What markings do they have?

Both say Garrett AR 24 M24 !

That'll be on the front of the compressor housing. Have a look on the rear exhaust housing for any markings. A lot of Garretts have the rear A/R stamped on the inside of the manifold flange. Any numbers there?

Mine were autos. Im pretty sure and they sorted them out with a kit, as said the cores are the same. T28s have tge same rebuild kit aswel basically.

Weird.... the guy I spoke to [forgive me forgot his name] said they could not recon autos, thats why I have reomoved mine to send off rather then just send the pair of auto ones that have been sitting on my shelf.

Would have made my life easier if I could have sent them off:thumbup1:

Yup, will be. That's the larger manual turbine housing. Everything else (compressor housing, comp wheel, turbine wheel) is exactly the same.

Thats a bugger, because the ones I pulled off the breaker [uk auto] show the same markings!

Could have sent those away to be done, and ready to go straight back on!

They both have .63 cast into the inside of the exhaust housing inlet?

I'm not sure why the company can't do auto turbos, they are identical apart from the exhaust housing A/R. Strange!
