Well its been a long time going since i posted up about my zed so with some good news i'd thought i'd best do it.

My zed's been off the road now since mid march and over the last four month i've struggled to get by and at a few

stages i even nearly gave up completely.

At the start of the year i had ordered my driftworks rear hicas bypass which started all my issues when i couldn't

prise the ball joint off the knuckle or hub carrier as some of you call it; after trying multple methods i took it to a

local engineering works who took a burner too it and slowly pushed them out with some burny hot heat.

Problem is they also managed to melt the aluminuim enough that i didn't trust the look or now unknown strength

of said parts; so after salvaging some spares i sent them down to Jeff to get the profesionals to fix it which after

only two days they were back in my hands and then fitted to my zed - Hicas Swap Done !!

Next came the rear wishbones which had been advised on my last MOT to be changed and with the new one due

within a month i enquired as to there costs; as i was totally blown away with cost of nissan oem units i again went

with driftworks and ordered them up too.

After they were swapped out and after finding out i got a fairly big bonus that month i decided what the hell i'm more

than 1/2 way so lets do the whole hog so i ordered up the fronts too and replaced the lot.

All the above with no spare time on my hands or cash at first took nearly 6 months and just a day before JAE {thurs}

i had the zed booked in for a 4 wheel alignment which at this point i was very excited about only to discover at pickup

time that the garage refused to do the setup as it was too complicated and they did not book enough time in their work

slot to do the job - i was more annoyed that they waited till i came back 4 hours later rather than just call me.

So JAE came and i drove down in my daily minus the zed and when i came back i was back to the drawing board.

Now on the recomendation of the previous garage i was told of a place to go next as they could fix it all but again

after a few weeks or calls to them and no calls back it was obvious that they had any interest in doing it either.

After another month of searching local establishments i finally found a company near by that will do the job so in

the morning my zed is getting picked up by lo loader and transported to fianlly get its wheels all aligned.

I'll upload the journey of the zed tomorrow when she gets shipped off !

So my zed got lo loaded this morning and shipped off to get its alignment done; it was scary putting it on the loader

as we had to use planks as the front bumper would have badly scraped if we forced it on so after the front wheels were

on we raided the platform and slowly drove the rest of her safely onto the ramp.

It was very chilly this morning so took a bit of persuasion to defrost the old girl.

Glad your getting somewhere with the old girl mate! It does drive you mad when garages give you a promise and quote then completly go back on it without so much as a phone call.

Another update :

I called the garage today just to touch base and the mechanic whos aligning my zed to make it road worthy said everything is good.

Should be finished by end of day for a miday collection when i get time tomorrow.

He also pointed out thats its not very often he sees any sort of car that can be adjusted in so many ways; so big shoutout for Driftworks !

He also pointed out that i need the front droplinks replaced as theres exess movement in them and he asked when the last MOT was done

which was only a few weeks and that the zed should have failed on them which i was very surprised.

Anyways new droplinks ordered from mjp and on order which i can fit myself.

Finally get to pick her up at some point tomorrow which i can't wait for.

Good to hear you're making progress mate. Was nice to meet you a few weeks back too to pick up the spacesavers.

That's great news Lee and I'm liking what you've done. Great work buddy :thumbup1:

I'm a bit partial to black zeds...

Just got the zed back from the garage and all was good, thoroughly enjoyed the brisk 5 min journey back to the work.

The alignment in the end cost me £160 as they had to fix a few extras on the way but i'm more than happy apart from

a small adjustment on the rears in that the ride height is way to low for the wheel arches.

About 1cm or close to it I would say so a tad rubbing when the average bump comes along.

Just need that fixed by raising it up a bit and I can move onto the bodywork.

I'll post up some pics shortly as I love the new profile I've got with the body of the zed.

You should have had that done at the alignment centre cos if you alter the ride height now it will change the camber and the toe in, thereby defeating the object of the exercise.

I realise that but i never noticed how low it was at the back until after i took it home.

I have the option to get the rear arches rolled for £80 but not sure.

What would it look like ?

Rolling the arches is invisible from the outside if done properly. Cos its the return lip that is rolled. Both my car and Bobgenies slicktop have rolled arches. Check out some pics.. Ive posted more than a few!!
