I've just put a brand new fan belt on and it seems to be tight enough but it keeps slipping when I first start the car, or let the revs drop low, or the engines under load like lights on and stuff?

If you put your thumb on the belt in the middle of the gap, how far can you depress it? It should only go about 1cm iirc.

I've tightened it so that if I hold the belt between my thumb and forefinger I can twist the belt about 90degrees either way, I was thinking that it might be worn pulleys as they've done 102,000 miles

I normally tighten it, if it squeals just give it a bit more obviously making sure it's not to tight it's gonna snap.

I normally jack front up to and if it's squeals I have a 12mm ratchet spanner tighten it till it stops

With the engine running but making sure I don't catch my hands anywhere.

Never had a problem with pulleys and worked on a few zeds.

it needs scubbing in...run it for a few miles or mins then re-tighten

Got the same problem, fitted some lighten pulleys and new belts and soon after it started. I just can't seem to get rid of the squealing, it happens every now and then i've tried everything i've just given up now.
