My PC is as ancient as I am . It runs Windows XP which can only be found in museums now I believe.

So.... will this Acer laptop be OK for a simple old bloke like me. Its a "cheapie " I know but I had a look at it in Asda today and checked the online write up. Im happy. Us pensioners dont have a lot of money you know!!!

Nowt wrong with XP Pete! It still holds its own even if it is 10 years old! I don't know what spec your current PC is but I reckon with a bit of TLC (I.E. removing the 20 anti-virus programs you've probably got on there and a good defrag and rebuild) it'll come back up to speed...

...or you can just buy a new one :x:

Really don't like Acer, had 2 laptops off them, both needed new motherboards in the first 6 mths, and they went again but after warranty so ended up in the bin !!!! Shit build quality IMO and wouldn't touch one again !

Windows XP to Windows 8!

Get ready for a shock to the system.

get ready to answer some "Help" PMs.................:kiss:.

I trust there is/will be a "IDIOTS/DUMMIES gude" to Windows 8???

I wouldn't bother with windows 8 at the moment. Leave it a few months so that the major bugs will be found and fixed. Win 7 is the most stable OS on pc and does everything you want.

Defo! All my PCs still run XP, the only thing that doesn't is my main mapping laptop which is on Vista. 'Cos I was lazy and couldn't be bothered to install XP.
