Does anyone have the vertical lift Lambo style doors on their car?

There seem to be a few hinge kits around, I'm assuming the bolt on ones are the best bet (though a bit more expensive)

Are there any pitfalls with fitting this type of door that I should be aware of?

Basically while my Zed is off the road having a major facelift and full respray I'm trying to end up with a car that is

* practical to use on the road as an 'occasional car' - not a daily runabout

* not too low to get over the occasional speedhump and pothole

* eye catching enough to turn heads.

I'm intending to show the car next year, and maybe get the chance to meet some of you guys while I'm at it

Have had several zeds in the workshop with these fitted over the years and personally they are a pain in the ass, the doors are too heavy and too long for it to work well and look good, let alone the fact the underneath of the door has to be spot on and when raining will drip all over the place, don`t do it unless your car is going to be used as a show car only.

Isnt this car up for sale on Ebay?

Its always good to read a whole thread.....................

I've seen a show car where they made the doors open all the way out at a right angle to the car. For me, that was more impressive then Lambo doors as it's far less common, even if it was just as awkward. Of course, show cars don't have to be practical.

Hmmmm I think I've changed my mind about Lambo doors - especially I don't fancy water dripping everwhere when you open the door in the rain!!

Saw this on another site the other day

their better

Just as awkward! Try and picture yourself getting in and then shutting the door...

Damn impressive though!

try turning up to your friendly MOT man here with those headlight lenses:blink:

If you like it, do it. That's what it's all about. Freedom to express yourself etc etc.

dont do it! seatbelts on the door flapping away too while they're up. urgh!

UK spec seat belts are where they normally should be, on the B pillar not on the door, so would depend on what zed he has, also later models moved the seat belts off the doors as well.
