Whats this old 86 z31 Worth and ideas

553758_10151097807448603_984695187_n.jpg

Just bought it but it seams a bit to good to race (well way to good) 71k and 3 owners, bit untidy bodywork wise but not bad, needs a windscreen and exhaust manifold bolt replacing for the mot

Well first off welcome to the forum, apart from worth what do you really need an idea with? why did you buy it in the first place with out knowing what its worth is as that seems a bit odd because you may have paid over what its worth for it, i gather you wanted one to race with? but if thats the case why not get one suitable for racing to start with, rather than one you surely would of know if it was suitable for to race, before you handed cash over?

Also if this thread deteriorates into a selling thread, it will be removed as you are unsubscribe, nothing against you, but its the forum rules, unsubscribed members are not allowed to sell / swap on the forum.

as if no one thinks its worth selling it will just get raced, Quite normal thing to come on to a owners club and ask a question like that, but i guess your "mod" team has a bit of a attitude, kind of a shame as thats what normaly kills forums like this

Not at all, doesnt up set anyone, but to answer your question, if the issues where fixed and it had tax and MOT on it, then in the region of 2000, to 3000.

We have just seen a lot of these "whats it worth threads" pop up over the years and turn into a selling thread, i was letting you know the forum rules regarding that.

"bit of an attitude?"

Real it in lad, this forum is one of the most friendly car forums going, 2nd post and you are accusing mods of having an attitude isnt helping you any, i pointed out a simple rule we have, had you read them you would understand that.

Ok thanks, had no idea they made that sort of money wont be racing this one then and someone can have a bargain on e-bay :) Genuinely just wanted a idea of its value thats all and if it was less than £400 it would be off to the track lol

i have to agree with vods, this is one of the best and friendliest forums/clubs i have ever had the pleasure to be involved with!

That's far to good to do banger racing with mate, we are mainly a z32 site but we do have a few z31 owners on here. I'd do it up and sell on for a profit, but as vodkashots says, you would need to be subscribed to sell on the forum.

As for moderation, you'll find that we are a very friendly club with great members who will go out of there way to help others. We do our best to keep moderation to a minimum but we do strictly enforce the rules in our AUP. This has helped to make this the best car forum on the web :)

And finally, Welcome to the club matey :)

What they are worth and what they sell for are very different and I think you've been given a bum steer above on valuation mate.

I have a perfectly good, very well restored z31 (poly bushes, fresh brakes and suspension, body work does have a couple of small rust blemishes but its already had around £4k invested in it during my 5 years of ownership) and I wouldn't expect to get back any more than £800-£1000 for it, its a later facelift model that looks a bit better than the early one. There are a few on ebay asking silly money but they will remain for sale forever at those prices

I rarely drive mine these days and have considered getting it ready for track use to save it just sitting there gathering dust.

looks nice and i think it would be criminal to banger it, and in reality it wouldnt make a very good banger racer. theyre tough in terms of keeping you safe but esp if its a turbo model a front end whack will probaly render it immobile.

Spot on there ^^^^, the turbo version of the Z31 (let alone the NA) is under-powered + overweight. I had three at one stage and drifted two of them that were stripped to the bare bones. They were propper donkeys (loads of fun) but definately donkeys, too much rust and engines that overheat and pop at the earliest sign of an irresponsible raggin' :whistling:.

I've seen a supposedly mint one up for £4k but to be fair it was 'up' for a very long time, we're talking years and I don't even know if that sold in the end or simply disappeared in a large pile of powdery rust.

Depending on your outlay to date mate I'd be more inclined to either tidy it up, get it taxed and tested and then sell on for a small/realistic profit or put it in a shed with a tarp over the top and wait until 2047 when I believe tidy Z31's will be in demand again...

good luck regardless bud
