Why the hell did Mr Nissan go home early one friday night in the design process and not design the crank timing belt pully with 2 blind 6mm threaded holes to enable us to put a simple extractor puller on and just simply pull it off:sad:...no room for a slide extractor,3 legged puller or pry bar without damaging the oil pump at all. After over 20 years stuck on my crank i had to cut mine off.

btw..we have 2 gravity return pipes from turbo,s to sump...remind me whats the small 3rd one for out the side of sump:confused1:

I had to do the same thing, think the new one was about 30 quid ish from nissan, was a couple of years ago tho.

Had problems with mine with a prong puller, used a proper harmonic balancer puller, there are 2 m6 bolt holes in the centre of the balancer, just put some decent washers on some bolts and use a proper harmonic balancer puller.

Yeah that's great for belt pulleys ... But the main timing belt sprocket ... There's no room to get a fork type remover on it

Replying a bit late but uhhh.... crowbar.

Yeah if you want to wreck your engine and need to change the oil pump, i think people are getting confused with which part bri is on about here, so here is a picture of the offending part in question.

Have you tried a massive amount of heat and a couple of pry bars behind it Bri?

and If I'd known that you could pull the crank pulley of with yer bellend, I wouldn't have shelled out for my puller set..

Sorted Dave:thumbup1:

Last time i actually just used 2 massive flat blade screwdrivers, just tapped them in behind gently in various places and it pops off. didn't damage the oil pump housing, just gotta use some CRC penetrate/ a lubricant that freezes the parts.

You could still use a small crowbar, just dont go being a pikey with it.
