ECU

As my car isn't running propperly at the mo I want to check its not the ECU screwing up. I want to swap the ECU with another Z to see if this cures the problem. I have a TT and a guy up the road has an NA. Would using this chip make things worse? More importantly, is it safe?

If yer ECU was screwed, it would play up the moment you started the engine, running rough and the electric Sub fan would come on as a default, have you tried ECU diagnosis ?

Dunno about trying a N/A ECU, you can temp use an Auto one though of another twin turbo.

The problem i have is that Z always runs poorly (juddering) at 1500-2000 rmp with light load. If you are pottering around at 35mph its like driving down a cobbled street. If you put your foot down though, it runs fine! Any ideas if it not likely to be the ECU?

Sounds like a stupid question i know - but have you checked your plugs?

At 50K ish they go bad and need replacing.

My car was exactly the same when i boght it juddery at low revs and fine when you boot it! - new plugs and guess what!!! perfic.

my corsa is doing the same thing in 5th at about 30 and it judders until i tooch the accelerator then fine on this though it some times reves and goes down and revs ecu light is on could this be plugs too i wouldnt have thought so though

sorry for replying to your post and been no help at all though lol

Had a similar problem but at about 50 MPH, cleaned the K&N air filter and it seemed a lot better.

Another thing to check is the MAS. Try swapping in a known good one..

The car has just been serviced at ZedWorld so things like plugs and filters have all been changed. I'm not sure if the O2 sensors have been checked or the MAS so I'll try to get them looked at. I also get a loud banging noise after running at higher speeds and then slowing, which I have discovered is the fuel tank. Is there a breather pipe on the fuel tank which could be blocked? Could this cause a lack of fuel at lower revs and maybe cause the problems I am having?

erm, loud banging from the FUEL TANK??? Are you sure it is coming from here and not just worn rear subframe/differential bushes you are hearing???

There is only one bang when I either stop or reduce the revs. Its as though there is a lot of suction in the tank due to large amounts of fuel being used and then when that stops or is reduced the vacuum drops. Does this make sense??!!

That sounds like something in the drivetrain/suspension that is worn to me. I don't think its the cause of your problem tbh. Check the O2s and the MAS - O2s do an ecu diagnostic check, MAS, erm, find someone with a known good one. Another thing to check would be the adjustment of the TPS...
