Hi Tony - and welcome to the club....

...Bartflaster's car looks a great buy; and it's always good to purchase a well maintained example from a club member..... Although for me I would have to buy a twin turbo. No disrespect to all those NAs out there, but even in automatic guise, a TT will always do it for me better than a manual NA.

Good luck with whichever car you finally purchase mate!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I've had both NA and TT, I'd pick TT all the time, but bear in mind if the turbos pack in its engine-out to change them.

If the Slicktop was a TT or the 2+2 was a Manual then it would be an easier decision.

The obvious choice for most people will be the 2+2 becuase its a TT, but they are perhaps a little too quick to rule out the NA Manual slicktop, because they have no experience of one.

Its about 170kg lighter than the 2+2 TT and only about 40hp (and 60Ibft torque) down on the TT (The TT Auto only puts out 263hp stock) and with a more efficient drivetrain and more responsive engine. Which means its almost as quick in a straight line but certainly quicker through the twisties and a lot more fun.....plus a little more economical and reliable.

Although I'd personally recommend holding out for a Manual TT, but go test drive them anyway and see which you prefer.

Welcome Tony - whereabouts in York are you? I'm in the local area :)

Got a Twin Turbo myself and even though the engine is pretty much standard the power just feels immense. Not driven an NA myself though so cant really compare...

If you had come out to York Raceway today you would have seen and heard an NA manwell slicktop in action.

there were no other 300s to complare mine with but I ran a couple of 14.8sec passes today with a best terminal of 94.83mph..

On a later run I managed to pull a 2.07 60ft time only 1/100 sec off my PB:cool3:

Thanks again :) . Spin doctor i went on comparethemarket.com and looked on there forum for some help. You download a form fill it in keep a copy and send it off to the peeps you are claiming against, takes a little longer but you get 100% of the monies owed to you mate. Tony

Ive got a tt auto 2+2.

Ive never driven an NA but id say TT although i was young when i got mine and it had a dump valve - bonus.

Plus you can take the roof off when its sunny.

Autos are great, better then those manuals :hurl:

Ive never driven a manual either but i really enjoy my lazy driving, go and stop, easy peasy, lovely in traffic jams and the power just keeps going and going and its only 1second slower then the manual.

Most banks have a phone number to call on their website, I did one and it only took ten minutes then got a payout after about 8 weeks.

  • 4 weeks later...

Arrange a test drive in all options and base your decision on what you find and are happy to pay. Don't rush into a purchase and buy right first time :thumbup1:

As above buy a good one or it'll cost you the price of the car to fix, I loved my auto tt its a great car and with a few small mods is a properly quick car 350hp is an easily achievable target
