My review of SELIN DUAL MAF and Z1 HARDPIPES.

Ordered a bunch of goodies from z1 and they we're very good and sent the stuff really quickly, postage was $120 but I ordered a lot to make up for that. I was most excited about the stainless steel Hardpipes and the dual MAF, as I had already bought a second Apexi filter and MAF.

Anyway I set about fitting the Hardpipes and it was such an arse to do! Some of the steel bits we're only just short enough to fit so much swearing and fairy liquid was needed. I paid extra for fancy jubilee clips and they were useless, they were too wide and as I tightened them they slid off, I have spent hours adjusting and tightening but they still leak, I'm sure they will settle in eventually.

The Selin setup was easy plug and play in add mode.

The outcome, well boost leaks, but when it works there is next to no lag now and the top end rush from the dual filter is stronger. It revs more freely with a bit more induction rasp.

Now time to ask for help, following all this I was checking for leaks after a 80 mile motorway drive and found I had a temperature difference across the engine. The 2 drivers side Hardpipes were cool but the passenger side ones warm. The same was true of the plenum. is this normal, do I have a weak intercoolers? Does it matter? Hope this is of interest to people and that someone can advise me,

Thanks,

Tom.

If 1 side is very much warmer than the other you need a throttle body rebalance mate.

Thanks, it recently came out of zedworld so it should be balanced but I hope I don't have one strong and one weak MAF, I must get a voltmeter on them or something.

It could be down to lots of things - its not something that I have really checked before but assuming the IC's are good then I would thing the next logical issue could be one turbo producing more boost than the other & working a lot harder?!

this temp difference could be do the the way the fan shroud is designed. If you noticed the fan shroud sits a little closer to the passenger side / driver side here in the US, the engine rotates the same direction pushing air the same direction. If you have hard pipes the radiator heat will heat soak pipes at low speeds. under boost you shouldn't see that much of a difference.

I wondered about that I was trying to feel where the air was going but it was quite blustery. I like that answer so I will stop worrying and blame it on air currents, thanks mate.

Cue all my Facebook mates giving me grief again.

The Selin computer unit is cable tied into a zip lock bag as is the hid thing, they are mounted properly but it's just me being belt and braces. I'm still chasing a noise like someone blowing over a bottle at partial boost, I think it is either the noise of the cones, or the flow between two Hardpipe ends under the silicon coupler, rather than a leak. Because they are all very very tight.
