Hi guys

Just wondering if someone could tell me what (providing the oil pressure guage is working correctly) the oil pressure should be starting a tt from cold? Also, while we're at it, what would you expect the presure to be whilst driving?

Cheers,

Chris.

Thanks mate. That's a lot of hot idle covered there but only one post about pressure from could which talked about 100psi (which sound about right to me). Just I went to visit a 300 today which gave probably around the 15psi from idle, very worrying?

I would not say very worrying, if it's idling at 1000 yes but was it 750rpm, not far off to me and how do you know the gauge is spot on?

mate only about 10% of OEM oil gauges work correctly....infact ive never ever seen one working right in my 12 year connection with zeds:rofl: an after market oil pressure gauge should be one of the 1st mods on these cars imho. Just hit the search button (top right) with oil pressure and it will be a feast of info for you to digest

Sorry Mark, got my answer and didn't check this post again.

I've not got a 300zx at the moment. I'm toying with the idea and went to look at one the other day. It was pritty rough but what bothered me most was the start up oil pressure was very low and got lower as she warmed up. Coming from a Fiat Coupe 20vt if you have a start up pressure less than 2 bar then you're about to have your wallet raped and I haven't got the time or cash to be thinking of that within the first year.

As it turns out I've just brought a van for my new buisnes which cost more than I was wanting to spend (right decision though) and I'm having trouble selling my Fiat for the price I think it's worth, so I'm probably just going to have to put the 300zx resto project on ice for now. Again probably the right decision as I should be focusing all my efforts on the buisnes.

Cheers,

Chris.
