Some might of noticed I've hardly been on here for quite a while, work at SFS has been ridiculously busy with shows and staff holidays. Kind of lost my mojo on the cars again and even the garage build has stopped

I have to see the surgeon in 2 weeks as my specialist has said there's nothing he can do for me and the internal reconstructional surgery they did 12 years ago all has to come out and they can't redo it again as I have lost to much of my small bowel as it is. Gutted is an understatement, I'm not sure how I face this as before the reconstruction I had a tempoary fix which I hated and now this will be a permanent thing. I know this seems a little criptic but some people know my problems and should be able to work it out, at 38 this isn't something I want and my wife has had no experience of it either, its worrying how she and indeed I will feel with this. Took the step today to call the specialist nurses about counselling which for me is a big step as I 'don't do feelings' and usually do the pull yourself together speech but I know confidence will nose dive even if all goes well with no complications, just finding it hard to motivate myself about anything at the moment....

At least they are doing something. Lets hope they get your big op sorted out soon.

There's a rumour circulating he might actually commit to a date soon..... Well I doubt the date will be soon but the commitment might lol

Good luck and have fingers and toes crossed that it will go well and you also get a date for the main OP......

Hi all, Anthony's wife Kerry here. I just wanted to let you know that anthony had a 5 hour emergency op at 4am this morning. His pouch had perforated possibly a result of Mondays surgery so last night they operated to make him better. He's had the first half of his "final" surgery and is recovering well. He'll be in for a week and then it's a recovery period , I don't know how long that will be. So sadly you won't see him for a little while but I will keep you updated, he's currently in a lot of pain by they are trying to make him comfortable. Kerry x

the very best of luck to Anthony and i hope he,s on the mend soon.

Sorry to hear that Kerry, Please send Anthony my best wishes and tell him he needs to get himself better and take it easy.... Hope to speak to him when he's on his feet...

Russ

Hi folks, thank goodness for 3G, as I write this from a hospital bed.

I'm very sore, tired and have far too many tubes stuck in me. Basically the op Monday was to insert some seton stitches that would help prevent the abscesses I keep getting by keeping the fistula's open to drain away rather than block up. I woke up Tuesday morning at 4am with my left lower stomach swollen and very sore, I ate very little that day and went to see my GP that afternoon as I was concerned. She examined me said I had to be seen by a surgeon that day and yet she spent 45 minutes on the phone to 4 departments before the would let me book in! Got to the hospital at 6.15 and was assessed at about 6.50 and the nurse said I would probably need to come in so back to the waiting area. After several moans at the staff they had me assessed by the on call surgeon at 1am!

She sent me for a ct scan that reveal my internal pouch had been pefforated in the procedure on Monday and the was air in my abdomen and probably waste material, basically I needed an emergency op and would be next into theatre and sure enough I was in at 4am. They have formed a loop ileostomy and repared the tear, the only thing they didn't do was remove the pouch, this is the op I've been needing and waiting for so at least it's half done. They wouldn't do the other bit as this was an emergency, they put me onto the ward at 12 o'clock after taking a few hours to stabilise the pain so a mix of morphine, tramadol and liquid paracetamol, antibiotics, a drip and three various cavity drains. Should be in for about a week to recover and then in the future come back to remove the other bit and make it all permanent.
