Im Looking to replace and uprate my flywheel and clutch whilst the engine is out. any suggestions of a UK source of decent parts? I have looked at the Z1 options which look interesting but the shipping and tax make this a pretty expensive (and potentially lengthy) option.

any ideas?

thanks!

Shipping from the US via Fedex is pretty quick. My main US parts supplier(for non Z32 parts) uses Fedex Int Economy. Normally on my doorstep within 5 working days.

There are virtually no UK sources that have stock on the shelf. And anyone who does will have a limited choice.

Uk sellers will have paid air freight and duty too and their price will reflect this.

Cheaper from the U.S, inc shipping and tax. Plus as Pete said delivery is typically in 3-5 days.

We supply and fit these clutches and flywheels, manufactured to our particular specification by a UK based company for us, no import duty , no overseas shipping cost and warranted in the UK by us.

How much are these Jeff and also how hard is the pedal press compared to stock?

Supply and fit is £575+vat for the clutch, this includes gearbox oil change and rear crank seal change, the flywheel is £299+ vat with no extra fitting charge with the clutch of course, we can do a supply only price also.

Clutch pedal pressure is only slightly harder, in fact hardly noticable compared to standard.

Thanks Jeff - sounds very interesting.

My engine is already out and seperated from the box so a supply only price would be what im after. Lightened flywheel, 3 part clutch, and rear crank seal price inc delivery and lead time please. If the gear oil is specialist can you supply this also?

What material is the flywheel made from, and whats the power rating of the flywheel / clutch please?

Finally, Z1 seem to advocate changing the pivot for an uprated one - whats your advice on this please? Do you supply such a thing?

many thanks!

Any chance you can post up what you got, the cost and where from, im sure alot of us are interested

Okay Guys, here goes, probably bought lemons.. lol..

I bought from http://www.conceptzperformance.com/. They were very helpful.

Bought the Southbend DXD clutch- stage 3, 525 TQcap

Fidanza flywheel

ralco RZ shortshifter

Polished radiator air guides (mainly because it was different to others Id seen).

Total price was £730 delivered.

pretty much the same price I would have paid for products from the UK, just had more choice available imprting. its the £70 postage and £30 import tax that bumped the cost up.

If you can buddy up and split the postage and import duty cost is reduced significantly.

Jesus did you check the customs decleration paper + Invoice attached to the box to ONLY pay 30 quid import duty on that lot? it must say something like about $425

Well done!

Smithy

Z1 and CPZ only declare 10% of the total cost value ... Mr Postal will most likely charge u Duty/vat on that value

the only one problem with it ... if the parcel gets lost the insurance will only cover the declared value

just be careful on what/amount u order .. oh dont use USPS there charges are over the top and slow at delivery ..

Use FedEx Loads better

Didnt know that Mark and didnt even think to ask if Im honest..

i paid them for postage so thought the liability was with them so their risk?

If it didnt turn up that is, but also paid with visa so thought I was well covered??

If not ill be well nervous if I do it again....

Nope and nope.

Import duties are due on the total cost of the package including postage costs.

Boxes can go missing or arrive at customs very badly damaged, you can claim ONLY the value declared by the sender even if he emails you the invoice of the true amount.

If you claim for the real amount on a missing box and the box does eventually turn up, your in trouble, big time.

Even worse is if they put the real invoice inside the box and a false decleration outside the box, should customs open the box or find it damaged and they spot the real costs invoice, your liable AND they can bring action against you.

In short you paid £730 for the 4 items which should have been best part of a grand delivered with correct duties paid.

Jeff would have done the clutch and flywheel for around £600 (supply only) leaving the remaining £130 towards cost of the short shifter and airguide, so the risk didn'y outweigh the costs.

Fitted would have been around £900 ish which compared to trus costs of importing, was an attractive option.

Well done but beware next time, a decleration of just 10% means a very high risk but more importantly the benefits of buying from the US compared to the UK only really work so well when defrauding the system!

Smithy

Cheers Smithy thats good enough for anybody.

truth be known I did not know I had to pay extra duties when it came into the country so its more a lucky escape...

I made me get the invoice out and also realise Ive been charged $175 for postage rather than the quoted $120.

Would you raise a complaint considering?

I would have purchased from Jeff and maybe the others asking in this thread but we only have your word on the price.

If Id known the price Id have wanted to know clamping force, max torque etc..

I would rather pay extra from somebody that wants to sell me something than beg somebody to sell me something. I always worry should something go wrong..

I know ive got what I want and its capabilities for my needs. which would have been my worry buying Jeffs.

My worry now is if something goes wrong.. support is hard when you buy from the States..

Im sending some rep for the useful info as well Bud..

Support is not hard when you buy from the States..............its non existant. I know someone who purchased a load of bits from Z1motosports for a rebuild including a new water pump, which failed shortly after start up so was obviously faulty. and Z1 told them to contact Nissan UK.....?? and you can guess what the answer was from them can't you. despite going back to Z1 he didnt get anywhere and bought another new water pump from a UK supplier. I had a turbo fail at 250 miles and Z1 after pushing for 6 weeks they sent me a replacement core but I had to stomach the engine removal again to fit it and all the phone calls to the States as they never returned any calls. Be warned, when it goes wrong, your the one that will end up out of pocket and all for a couple of quid saved usually illegally.

Anyone managed to get any info from Zedworld about this clutch? I have emailed all 3 of their email addresses and had no reply. I've tried to call them a few times this week and number is either busy or no answer!

That's great for approximate prices cheers Smithy. Jeff if you happen to see this thread - I'm very interested in buying whichever clutch and flywheel you recommend for my car so if you check your emails you should have one from me to reply to with the details. Failing that I will keep trying to call you this week.
