No Modifications/Aftermarket????

Well I read in the paper today that the EU are trying to put in place that all cars in the UK to be completely standard ( as they came out of the factory) in order to pass an MOT, this includes wheels, exhausts and lights etc... any modifications whatsoever.

This could effect over 28,000 enthusiasts/workers let alone us guys who go about our daily fix of modding.

Wondering what are your views on this subject and could you see it being enforced?

There trying to change alot of things at the min the eu also want to make it that you can't but pattern parts and trying to stop independent motor factors, so all you will beable to do is buy genuine manufacture parts,

I wonder how many people would change back to aftermarket parts once it passes mot like people do with cats,

Plus it would be hard to enforce things like forge internals, bigger turbos, bigger injectors ect as the mot guy wouldn't know,

It's just another stupid idea from the EU, all we could do it start a mass pertition

They can't even enforce the new MOT rules as they are after 5 months of announcing them so how long it'd take to get everyone to agree to this is ridiculous.

There's no way they'd ever get this to work!

Apprantly vosa are kicking of about it themselves saying its impossible for them to be able to identify everything. They dont haveva list of parts for every car ever produced. Small companies like jensen one model to another may have different diffs or carbs etc.

It'll never happen. They've been talking about this for years.

Yup - just another bit of scaremongering doing the rounds on the interweb. For the 100th time......

.......so I'm not going to worry about it!!

Richard:biggrin:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

some mods are already not MOT legal,

technically any car louder then it was out the factory should fail its MOT, so most sports exhaust are illegal. however as i pointed out to our mechanic doing mine last week, if he could show a Db noise level for it as it came out the factory, then he could prove its louder then it was lol.
