Hi everyone

I'm currently in the process of fitting an electronic speedo converter to my Z, but having a little trouble. Its a JDM one that reading in KPH, so I got hold of one of those little chips off the internet to convert it.

I believe I've successfully spliced it into the speed sensor line that runs into the back of the speedo gauge, but I also need to connect it to a (+12v) line and (Neg) line and am having trouble finding a suitable one. Does anyone have any suggestions? The cables attached to the converter are about 4 inches long so they have to be fairly close to the socket in the back of the speedo gauge.

Cheers for the input!

John

Are these kph to mph converters reliable? Is that the best way of doing it without forking out for UK clocks?

Well got it all fitted and seems to be working well enough. It makes the speedo a little unresponsive below 10mph but seems to read correctly. I'm a lot happier driving without having to convert the kph to mph in my head!

Cheers everyone

Under 10mph inactive, is usual with some convertors, but its not important enough to worry about. Glad you got it sorted

Thanks for the input guys, yeah that is bloody expensive for a little box but I do prefer the uncluttered look of the kph dials. You're good with electronics Groover, ever fancied making them? But not selling them for £100:biggrin:

Or if you dont want to go very fast just fit a 120 mph dial to the clocks

I wouldnt have thought there was much in the box, its basically a resistor board to slow the signal down, if anyone has an old one or duff one i could take one apart.
