This forums dreadful dealings with disabilty topics

Genuine disabilities discussed on the 300zx forum

A reprehensible and bigoted attitude that has let this forum down today, some of the representatives of the forum may want to take a hard look at themselves in the light of how a simple thread was hijacked but then even worse dealt with in an ineffectively weak manner, the forum needs to revaluate its position here and make a clear and correct stand.

Shame on you all involved

None of the comments I have made above should be taken in an offensive or in a trouble making way, they are not been written with that in mind, just response to the thread reply.

quite a few of your replies about saying "you didn't say it went off topic" to my reply, was for the people who said it did, that post was not directed at anyone in particular except where i have pointed it out.

as for the pot kettle comment, how was "piss" and "shit" insulting, im sorry if you found that insulting, but it wasn't even directed at anyone and was taken out of context, it was asking a simple question as to how we should moderate.

I say it should of been suggested by PM, not to brush it under the carpet, but to draw it to our attention so it could of been dealt with more effectively had we failed to react to a simple PM, then yes a post, when i sign in, i get a pop up saying i have a PM and thats the first thing i usually check. we also have a "report post" button that PM's the entire moderation team and also sends out an email. we had received no reported posts from that thread to say people were insulted, annoyed, wanted it edited or anything.

had this feature been used for its intended purpose it would of made the entire team aware of the situation. as i said, i only read the first post and 2 replies. then i was busy checking other posts and doing other things and never actually got back onto that thread until today.

With power does come great responsibility, that is correct, but not all the time every base is covered, the forum is not manned by a mod between the hours of around 4am to 6am on most nights for instance, if something happens between those hours and all hell breaks loose, then until someone gets online, nothing is done about it.

If anyone has any issues with any posts made, the reported post button should be used and we will try our best to look into it in a timely manner.

thanks for starting this thread jeff i agree with you on this if it was a other car forum they would deal with that asap and remove the bad stuff and give them a warning

Hi Bigman,

The thing is, there are not always sufficient moderators online to deal with such matters as soon as they arise; and one moderator might do something dsifferently to another! They would then discuss their actions in their private forum in order to agree on the right course of action to take.

In this case StellaZ closed the thread (quite correctly) as it was going off topic and likely to cause offence. The moderators then discussed it once a few more were online; and they agreed (as do I) to remove the entire thread from the public view.

Please be advised that any negative posts as referred to were the personal opinions of the individuals concerned; and not the opinions of the club so please accept my apologies both from me personally (as I feel a comment from me might have been taken out of context and contributed to the thread sliding off topic); and from the club if any offence or bad feeling was caused. I hope that, as a new member, you do not feel unwelcome on our forums. Gary has indicated that you may decide to start another similar thread later - if so please rest assured that we will monitor it accordingly to ensure that it does not degenerate like the last one.

I am closing this thread now as I believe this should be the last word on the subject.

Kind regards,

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
