Went and picked up my new zed yesterday, mucho respect to Richard smith for that, and what a fantastic AMG he has, me wanty

First off a question, did OEM injectors ever come in the color purple as thats what colour my injectors are.

Right now thats out the way, 2 kinda major issues.

I have no headlights, you turn the dial on, i get no dash lights and no head lights, no rear lights, but i have full beam only, so most likely dodgy wiring connection of some sort.

Right i have a hunting idle, the car (i have to check first) is supposed to have 555 nismo injectors, z1 uprated ECU, it has racelogic traction control plumbed in and a HKS turbo timer and EBC that i will be swapping for my blitz and greddy ones respectively, now i know i really need to replace the ECU temp sensor connector as its well, fubar to be perfectly honest, and im sure the injector connectors are not that much better.

Ill be changing my wiring loom over at some point today as the blue one has a almost (about 2 years old) wiring loom on.

But this head light thing is something i really need to sort out.

I think someone had the same issue with there head lights and turned out to be a bad wire in the side pod connection block.

And dont ask for pictures yet, none are going up until ive sorted out a few things like changing my interior over and giving it a polish

Nope fuses all ok matey, I have break lights and indecators, I can flash full beam and I can put them on normally, but no dipped beam or side lights or tail lights, first thing I did was check fuses and relays.

2 very non helpful comments there, rebel I didn't want yours as I wanted to stick a body kit on which would of meant a respray. The one I have now already has a kit on it

As for if it's a wiring issue, I'll just swap the wiring harnesses out of my blue zed if I have to, was asking if anyone had any problems the same that didn't involve doing that, the engine is strong and the body has no rust, these are the only issues apart from general tidying up, that need sorting so still not a bad purchase, plus gives me something to do

Well logically if its the same syptoms as the fuse its got to be with the supplyvto that circuit. Annnoying process of multimetering. As for the idle have you checked the tps and idle control without the valve, disconnect it see what happens. Reset the base and clean tge connections. May also be worth checking the plugs are gapped correctly.

Congrats on getting your new toy :) I'm priviliged to have seen pics already and it looks lovely can't wait to see it next week :)

Hope you get your problems sorted :)

What more do you want me to say? I offered a bit of help and you've already checked it, so logically it's in that circuit and possibly in the wiring so my comment is relevant! I'll think twice in the future.

Good luck in finding the problem tho mate.

From memory, without looking at the circuit diagram, 10a fuse top row 3 rd fuse drivers fotwell fuse box. Splits to do many things, main one is to make the full beam / dipped beam headlight relay switch to dipped beam, without this power it defaults to main, thus allowing you to flash without headlights on first.

It also feeds the side lights, rear lights, interior lights etc, its also conected to the timer unit

. Obviouslt to be able to do this it goes via the pods, both main beam stalk and lights on switch, so check these are plugged in properly.

Most common fault is fuse ( so check it again to be sure) then pod plugs, also seen faulty main beam switch ( possibly not this, cant remember where wires split) also seen bodged led side light conversion melt the wires at the side ligts, short to chasis, then melt wiring loom at back of switch pod

It was more the "ha ha" at the end of the comment bud.

Thanks Ian I shall have a ganders bud, though I have a feeling it might be due to someone's dodgy wiring of gauges, think I'll strip things back and have a closer look

Yep checked that, aaah thanks lol one side light bulb is missing the connected so could be shortly there shall have alook

Thia is infant school question as far as zeds go, this very fault has come up so scores of times in the past years its almost legend, you do have a knack of upsetting people though.

The lighting fuse is as Ian mentioned the control for the side, dash, rear and front side lights, the dip beam also use this feed to operate them so no side light fuse no dip beam , all other lights have their own fuses.

Well fuse was fine fuse box on the other hand, well someone screwed the A pillar gauges through the targa drain, inside the fuse box some of the metal strip things were a bit worse for wear, so changed the fuse box for the one out of my blue one, patched the hole in the targa drain for now, will replace that when I can find the other end, sorted out the odd idle (temp sensor connector) so will need to get a new one of them, just resetting the ecu as now have massive overfueling, hell it looked more like a diesel when revving it, oh and found out I have a jwt ecu  :) though that might need remapping if this overfueling isn't sorted by a ecu reset, but I now have lights and working dash

Was it the one I sent you the link from gumtree about? :detective:

er... with out checking my PM's lol, not sure.

Right everything is now sorted, ive actually ran out of stuff to fix for now.

Overfueling sorted, took the nose panel off, there was the base of a HKS air filter, think the mesh and foam fell off LOL, it has a uprated oil cooler as well :D and noticed the dump valves, was taking the remains of the air filter off and noticed that either they had plugged the top intake pipe, but both sides had perished and also fell off (not likely) or they just didnt plug them (most likely) so took the plugs off my blue one, put the battery back on, engine now runs with out idling issues, no over fueling either, bit loud though, so think ill be changing the exhaust for my one as well, well bloody noisy lol, though now i have a very noisy lifter  typical these things rear there head after purchase not before.

But other than needing to fit my rear carpet, S2 interior and wire in the rear Bose speakers (anyone got an original Bose stereo? as all the correct loom is present) oh fit my exhaust and change to my alloys, shes running fine for now so quite impressed to be honest.
