ive been swimming a lot lately and although im losing a bit weight my energy levels seem to be dropping and im not getting much better at swimming further distances (usually 4 lengths of a 20m pool and im goosed lol), i have to have a breather before going again

i know some of yous lot are into excercising and weight loss and wondered if any of yous knew what i could do to improve, ive been eating a lot of steamed veggies and eating a lot of fruit and also drinking a lot more water

i get very lethargic very easily while swimming, its the same with most excercising TBH and its why i give up easy lol

anyone use any suppliments or drinks before excercise?

also while on the subject of weight loss anyone use slimming tabs, my mate is using some and im not keen on them, tried to warn him off but he seems adamtn on taking them, they are actually working as he has lost lots of weight but im not keen on magic pills for quick fixes think he is using Slim Tone Plus and PureLife Cleanse anyone heard of them?

thanks

Allan

I read in one of the girly mags last week about a woman who was hooked on the slimming tablets and altho they made her shed loads of weight she ended up with serious heart problems!

I don't even bother with diets, can't stick to them and don't like eating breakfast which is supposed to be the most important meal of the day. Maybe try something herbal for energy I'm sure holland and barrett will do something.

It's purely diet in my opinion, if you are doing exercise then you can eat anything in moderation. Your probably not eating enough to compensate the phys your doing.

I personally don't do protein shakes as I feel they are pointless if the food is correct.

A mate used slimming tabs and he had to compensate taking them with about 6 cans of monster a day so did nothing for him. I would stay away and concentrate on phys.

Just remember that fat burning is about 60-80% of max effort, you should be able to hold a conversation while running etc.

Eating breakfast starts the metabolism so you burn more calories in a day.

i hate diet pills like i hate steroids, they are quick cheats that cant be doing you any long term good

usually bran flakes and banana for brekkie with coffee

sandwich and cuppa soup for lunch

usually a yogurt about 5-6pm as i go swimming at 8pm and chicken and steamed veg for tea when i finish

i do snack on biccies all day though lol, im just struggling with stamina

33 years young gaz mate lol

Perhaps eat more before you go swimming, so you've got your energy there? Or even a few bananas, natures mars bars (as my ex raw-vegan hippy bird told me, she couldn't eat anything that a vegan couldn't eat, but also couldn't eat anything above body temperature, if her blender broke, she would starve to death, haha, not much fun going out for a meal). I'm a grafter all week, and play drums at weekend, I'm pretty thin but eat like a horse, but I can guarantee, no matter how much I have eaten, after a serious graft or a full nights drumming, all my energy is gone, I put it down to there not being much meat on me, I've only got what's in my stomach to burn off, but I can't eat any more and can't put on weight! Might take a couple of weeks of work, stay in bed eating mars bars.

im not sure joel, but eating even a couple of hours before swimming makes me feel sick lol

usually eat about 8.30-9 pm, go to bed about 11ish

well that will undo any good you have done in the day

you have to change this time of eating it is far far to late

I eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper, and loads inbetween, but my meals are at random times, as is my work and sleep pattern. And I'm a scrawny turd too, a bloke actually asked me the other week after I came off stage, 'So, which are you, a smack head or ex smack head?'! He almost got a slap, fat basterd.

I never eat breakfast, rarely have lunch and normally have a main meal about 6-7pm, I've come to terms I'm never going to be a size zero and I like my curves the way they are!

Those tablets will be raspberry ketone, natural so not too bad. Realy need to be careful with the builders tabs which contain creatin etc.. can cause liver, heart problems etc..

The weight is easy to put on nut a ****er to get off..

Did you watch the Hairy Bikers show recently about eating well on a calorie controlled diet? You can google the recipes, but things like pies and paella... easy to make and filling but much lower in calories..

Then buy a zed and burn calories by working on it....

Make sure you are eating a lot protein e.g lean chicken, drink plenty of water and sleep atleast 6-8 hours (depends on each person). Also always worth having a general blood check done at our gp to see if your thyroid levels are causing tiredness as this is very common :)

Somedays I despair of this forum, this is a car forum is it not? mostlly patronised by the male species is it not?

2012 modern man, you will all be discussing skin cleanser and moisturiser next !

Tablets do a number on your internals if you take them for too long.

I came at exercising from another angle, I do weights normally, but love food, so in order to balance out the work I opted for the insanity workout program, 1 week in and I feel full of beans, much happier in my appearance and feeling a lot less tired. It's costly, but if the next 7 weeks are as good as this first week, then I say it's worth it.

I wasn't going to say anything till I'd finished, then put up a before and after pic... Which I will do, in 54 days! Ha ha.

Aside my program, they do recommend working out with someone, a buddy they call them... So I'm doing it with the girl friend, slip of a thing that she already is runs rings around me ha ha :)

Persevere mate, push yourself a bit more each length, eventually, 4 turns into 6, turns into 8..... You gotta push for it though :)

Oh, and stop eating lots of fruit, as fruit is high in carbs, and unless your working it off, it stores as fat.

Cut bread out and if you are going to have any, minimal, and brown.

Meats and fish,

Accompany with veg and brown rice if you want a full plate......

It's said that a little often keeps the metabolism going and improves its effect, so make 3 big meals into 5 smaller ones and spread from breakfast to evening time.

I should say though, I have taken this extreme route (and it is extreme work) as I don't believe in cutting out food, I love it too much :D ( there is no diet so to speak in the program, you eat protein carbs and fat in a balanced manner to maximise energy)

So all I can say I guess is find a balance your happy with, and when it comes to your exercise, if your heart rate isn't up, and your not sweating, then your not pushing yourself ;)

Good luck and stay safe! Stretch etc :)
