What oil are guys using and what grade just trying to get an idea of which to use

OOOOOOH! An oil thread!!

Lookout Oilman will be on his way soon. complete with some fractionated ester bases .

And everyone else on here is an expert too.

Be prepared for 5 pages of differing opinions!!!:glare:

Or just nip down to Asda and see wots cheap but dont tell anyone you are usuing cheap(but good) oli from Asda!!!

Haha, most of above is actually true, but it always helps to put some details of your car. Mileage, use (trackdays, fast road, pottering), winter/summer use, mods, manual or auto, your budget. But its largely a personal preference based on peoples interpretation of the facts. I use fuchs titan race pro s 10w 50. low mileage engine with full rebuild, bigger turbos, fast road and track use. Regular servicing, manual.

Has been recomended by other, experts and not. Not cheap but worth it for the piece of mind.

I currently have this in as well - only because it smells nice though...not the oil silly, the air freshener I got from opie

I have not got the air freshener........

.....but I use Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 fully synth in my relatively stock TT auto; changed once a year in which I'll have covered no more than 5k miles. No track use, just regular road driving - although some of it might be a little faster than I should be doing!!

Is it good? Well if the marketing gurus at Shell are not lying, it's the only oil recommended by Ferrari......:shifty:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

That air freshener is lush!

I too am a victim of opie oils propaganda sales pitch that was so well described by pete, I do like how they recommend one of the most expensive oils in the range! Nevertheless, I use the very same Fuchs (silkolene) and for the same reason as Keano, piece of mind. Deep down I am a firm believer of a decent quality oil, I put multiple litres of oil in expensive machines on a daily basis and only use top 'branded products' as directed by a team of clever cloggs that over analyse every aspect of the business in order to cut every possible corner going to save money (and make massive profits!)

Bugger, I've just become another statistic of pete predictive 5 page thread.... We haven't had one for a while though :)

i'm using Fuchs titan race pro s 10w50 and opie's air freshener too :)

but a more reg oil change on cheaper oil is far better than using decent oil on Full mileage :)

i know which oil pete is on about from asda.. its got a green label and a pretty yellow flower on it. try that. :D
