ok come on then, as per title, whats the best v8 to stick in a zed, im thinking more the LS1 from the old corvette, shame no one sells the bloody engine in the UK, would love to do that, it sounds awesome, and apart from it having corvette all over it, looks fantastic as well

i would stick with a chevy small block v8. probably the easiest v8 engine to get bits for

bloody quick as well when you start modifying them

one was going on flee bay complete for £1500 last week

never know, by the time i get this insurance payout for my car, it might well be even more of a classic engine than it is at the moment lol

really great choice vod if you do and it will be different like mikey said sooooooooo adaptable spent two weeks researching it know more about them than the z lol

i was speaking to some of the dag lasts at pod who use the big block V8's, watching them strip them down in the padocks for a rebuild there and then, made it look so easy lol

Always disliked the idea of a big lazy American V8 in a Japanese Supercar/Sportscar.

Stick to Jap imo..and stick to same Manufacture - VH45de / Vk45de / VK56de - Considered by many to be the best engines to come out of Japan, and used in a lot of the major race series. Very robust, very tuneable.

Tend to agree with you there Yowser, American V8's are good, but a Japanese Z needs a Japanese motor.

A bit of a purist I guess.

never seen a Infiniti Q45 for sale in the UK, where the hell would you get a VH45de from?

Import the engine from Japan or the U.S. There are quite a few VH45de Nissans in the UK, including at least 2 z32's......one of which is John Dixon...and the other Im not allowed to talk about..yet ;)

pretty sure john dixon would be a good person to have that chat with he has a vh or vq cant remeber now engined zed. the ls1 is quite a popular swap and apex do v8 conversions with an ls1 on mostly 200sxs so that also may be a good place to start. there is even a zed forum called hybridz that discusses many different engine swaps.

I suppose a good start would be reading up on whats involved, no way it can be as simple as just dropping it in, id imaging engine mounts would have to be made, possibly body work to get it to fit, gearbox fitting, engine loom wiring. custom made coolant / intake piping.

a pipedream is mearly something you havent thought up a way of feasibly doing yet :)

well seems every time i vest an interest in a zed, it gets sold, so looking at other things i could possibly do lol

Nothing wrong with an Ls engine!-as for fitting it,piece of pi55.

I would consider the 4.2 Audi as well, beautiful smooth lump but pricey to tune...............

how about a VR38 swap if you're feeling flush? :p saw one on fleabay for £7000! not a V8, but it'd be an epic swap

Me too.....

.....and if you can't get hold of the Nissan engine, how about the Lexus jobbie......?
