central locking

just a quick question. is the central locking supposed to work from both doors? I only ask because went to lock my car yesterday, and the lock broke and spun round further than usual:asshole:. so now can't lock the car from the drivers side. went to lock it from the passenger side (for the first time) and it only locked the passenger side. i will try and fix the drivers lock at the weekend but if the passenger side isn't supposed to lock both doors then i'll leave that well alone.

No, passenger door lock just does that door.

I never use the key to unlock - the alarm zapper does that job

unfortunately mine hasn't got keyless remote entry. although i think i'm guna have to look into it if i can't fix this at the weekend.

As far as I know it's only the drivers door on most cars that locks all... (well old cars anyway, as they seem to be the only ones I own.. lol)

Yup; driver's door only on the ZX!!

And new cars don't tend to actually have a key-hole on the passenger door anymore....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

if i can't fix the lock, do you reckon that its possible to swap the working lock from the passenger side to the drivers side and visa versa so that the drivers side still unocks both doors?

this is very common, the key will eventually spin round and round and round. getting hold of the part for the drivers side can be a dick. but you can modify a passenger side version to make use of it and replace it. im sure jeff did a little thread on this.

Thanks for the help mate, and thanks Jeff for the step by step instructions. looks like i've got my weekend planned now. think i may replace the speakers while the door cards are off (2 bird, 1 stone spring to mind).
