Hi all,

As my previous thread one side of my exhaust is lower than the other...I contacted Greg Dupree at SpecialityZ and told him what ive come across.

He explained that it looks like one manifold has not been centrered correctly as the bolt holes on the manifolds are larger than the studs to allow for expansion. I really dont want to take the engine out and strip it down again after all the dramas previous and recently getting so far with it.

Im hoping these manifolds are ported a bit larger than the stock head ports so the ports wont be over lapping otherwise im giving up!

oh is this to sort out the exhaust alignment ? wouldn't of thought that much movement on the manifold to give u that much outness on the pipe work ...

theres only going to be a few mill

Agreed, unless the bolt holes for the manifold are 2" diameter! That said its probably worth investigating the alignment of the manifold as per his advice but passing that off as the reason for the exhaust being that far out is a bit cheeky imo.

I'd go with SZ, I doubt there's any company out there with more experience of working on the Z32. 2" deviation on one side of the test pipes only needs the angle to be slightly off at the downpipe side given the length.

Well good news i think! It was playing on my mind so i drove to the unit to check things out...the last thing i want to do is take the engine out and mess with the turbos oil lines etc.

I removed the gearbox exhaust bracket that i know others have had problems with when fitting after market exhausts. I then bolted up the exhaust and they both sit perfect side by side. So now im thinking its the bracket or the hangers on the pipes. For some reason ive got 2 different types of bracket but neither fit well.

I also got better news from Greg who imformed me that if i havent ported the ports in the heads i will be fine if the manifolds are not 100% correctly aligned as the manifolds ports are larger.

So here is a pic of the exhausts do they look like they are in the right position? They are 3" so they will sit slightly different to stock i guess.

Where did you get the exhaust brackets from?.have been after one of them for ages to stop my damn exhaust clattering together when hot.

pipes look in the right place but the flange dosnt should be 1oclock / 11oclock position u need to check your rear pipes are in same position m8

As above really, the right hand flange angle looks far to shallow. Are the hangers on the rear box in the right place? Worth a check.

Thanks for the info ill double check my x pipes when they arrive. I've got a pic of where the hangers fit at home. They are in line with the hangers but the hangers sit higher. I'll post the pic when I get home.

Just thinking the flanges could be that way as they are 3" in diameter. If they were ment to be as stated they may clash or be really close?
