Just a quick question, What can i do to have brighter headlights??? They were really poor when i first got the zed, then i fired in some nightbreakers and tbh they are still B******S!!! Any suggestions? is it a common issue?

HIDs :)

Yup - that's the best option.....

.....buy the H3 kit with either a 4500k or 6000k output. Any more than 6000k and the light will be too blue; hence counter productive. Many folk have the 6000k kits - but I went for the 4500k ones. Sure, they are not as blue-white as modern Merc/BMW lights; but the actual useful light output is trully excellent!!

Well i will order tose from work tomorrow, anyone got a fitting guide with pics? Ideally like to hide it all out of sight if possible?

Cleaning the backside of the projector lens is the real answer, the best way is to remove the headlights and dismatle, clean and refit, you will be amazed at the difference with even standard bulbs but with HID its amazing.

Take a look into your headlights projector globe, if clean in daylight you should see an inverted image of the bulb, bet though you will be lookinging into a milky white cloud, and thats the problem as it causes massive light scatter, HID been a diiferent heat range is slightly less effected.

i thought i remember someone saying before that hid's will now mean an mot failure?! or have i got confused

Real grey area, correct in a way but many testers will let it slide as long as the headlights are set correctly, the problem with HID kits in general is when they are fitted to non xenon headlights, the beam pattern and anti dazzle cut off can be incorrect, luckily the zed headlights take them ok and can be set to not dazzle.

Hi,

fitting the HID ballast is a bit of a mess but if you remove the headlights it can be tucked under the assembly.. (so I've been told, but I haven't done it so can't can't confirm)

this is a guide to removal...

once the headlights are removed it makes it real easy to replace the high beams (with new ones),(tricky with the units in place).

here is a guide for headlight disassembly to clean the inside and replace any broken cogs (critical for adjustment with HID's)

I stripped mine cleaned lenses , repainted inside due to someone else doing it at some point, and fitted hid kit, massive improvement.

When cleaned and aligned correctly they will be dramatically improved. Adjusters were broken on mine, they can be repaired with some Tamiya differential gears though. Do all this then put HID in and you will have good lights.

You will have a problem with the HIDs being dim as hell when you dip your lights after prolonged main beam, and they go off when you flash the main beam. Simple workaround just connect the negative wire from the ballast to ground and both dip and main will run simultaneously.
