Was thinking of going for the satin black look?

I sprayed the rear quater and a bit of the bumper today and i think i liked but would be scarey doing a full car

Has anyone got that pic of the black zed with the scarab bumper. Anyone got any pics of satin black zeds.

one thing i will say is it has gone from a classy looking car to an evil one :cool3:

Hey Dave,

my opinion mate, is that for a whole car, keep to the gloss finish!! I'm a dinosuar and still think the good old fashioned glossy bodywork is best.....

Richard:thumbup1:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

my god hes back, wondered where you had been hiding mate, hows the car coming along? havent thrown in the towel then thank god.

If i go black gloss it will be the alfa nero black. the blackest black on the market for a super shine.

What do you think i will need to do to pull off the satin black look??

KH3 is only black and has no other colours mixed with it, I can't see how you can get blacker than black?

A dress would be a good start

I'm sure you would mate lol.

Not saying you can't but how do you get blacker than black? I really don't know the answer. lol

LOL!!!

Being serious as a reply I have just done my first piece of satin paint work in a custom grey shade similar to graphite grey . IMO it looks pretty cool.

Its on a Motorsport orientated agressive looking 240Z tho so may not seem as appropriate on a road style Z32. IMo

That's sounding lush Pete, piccy's please .

Have a look at mikey beans car if you are thinking of going satin black... ;)

I'd say gloss

I know it's not the blackest black you'll ever see; not is it pure black since there is a silver and gold fleck within it.....

....but Mercedes Obsidian black is my favourite black. My old Merc was that colour - and Phil P's 99-spec converted ZX is Obsidian black and it looks awesome!!

And typically I see you have (as I type) 14 replied and yet only 4 votes.....!! Come on people, it's a poll so tick the box and help Dave decide!!!

Mikeys is a matt black, I would never have matt black as it looks dusty and wishy washy. would have to be satin like japslappers.

Head says satin as it hides a world of sins as you dont have to worry about reflections,

heart says the blackest black for the ultimate shine, the car would have to be perfect as i have proper ocd about cars paint work, Ive not gone to shows because ive had a scratch and a couple of stone chips. My old man thinks in ill :(

You would probably be disappointed with satin then mate, I reckon you'll be constantly polishing it and getting nowhere. Gloss would be better for you I think. Jap-slappers zed is going to be a track monster though isn't it? Suits his zed due to what he's done to it but yours is a different beast.

agree with the above like totally

I use satin black all the Time . My z32 is done inside with it. But its 2K paint

the 240Z that is having the satin grey outside is all finished inside in satin black.

They are not typical road cars tho . Eg they have no/minimal interior trim. No carpets etc. So the satin black suits the motorsport look.

Even matt black looks good on the outside if properly sprayed. if anyone has seenMike(Mr F at MJP)'s Z31 SWB you will know how menacing the colour can be.

what gives satin/matt finishes a bit of a bad name in the looks league is people who just buy 12 cheap rattle cans and use them.

Nothing wrong with that if funds are tight BUT the final look is always like you spent £36..IMO

For 95% of you out there including Dave/Car Mad gloss is still the better option.

So Im going to vote Gloss for Dave:thumbup:

Omg!you, like, so totally took the words out my mouth bazzie.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:.......well jell !!!,LOL.
