can i remove the injector with out taking the plenum off

Yes on most but iirc number no.6 needs a slight mod to the plenum with a dremmel to get it off.

I think you can if you get medieval with a dremel so you can get on the screw heads, otherwise its plenum off I believe.personally I wouldnt fancy the idea of getting loads of fine aluminium dust all over my engine so would pull the plenum and do water pipe bypass at the same time :)

how long would it take to remove the plenum

I dremel'd my plenum a few months back on cyl # 4, took over an hour just to get to one screw! check the resistance between the pins on the injector in question, and compare it to a couple of others. My faulty one was loads higher.

Depends how good you are with the old spanners and whether water bypass/egr delete has already been done.havent done mine yet (next week all being well), but would have thought 2 to 3hrs.......sure someone will correct me if im a mile out.

you all lost me ,im a driver and know little when it comes to testing leads

anyone know of a place close to me as i would like to sort it by next week?

do you own a multimeter or know someone that does? is dead easy, just unplug the loom from the injector and hold one probe on one pin of the injector, and the other probe on the other pin :)

The meter will read out a resistance - i.e. 0.05 ohms. I think my faulty one was something like 1.36ohms, which is a LOT higher. (trust me)

as above, firstly if your sure there a spark. fire the car up and let it run, then get a long screw driver and place the shaft on the injector itself you should hear a loud clicking through the screwdriver which should be a uniform noise to all the others.

if its clicking away happy as larry then turn the engine off and pop off the injector plug. you will see inside two little prongs check these are clean, clean with electrical switch cleaner if necessary. once clean, set the multimeter to ohms it looks like a horse shoe. by placing the multimeter on each prong you will get a resistance, it should be 10 to 14 ohms i believe with around 12.4 being stock resistance. if you get a reading out of this range shes fubar! theres plenty of youtube vids to show you aswel. pictures worth a thousand words and all.

i cleaned the plugs out had all that green looking powder in there but still no good think the injector has gone

Do the listening with a screwdriver test, very simple and very effective

Also check the connector on the ptu is seated properly
