Had some terrible weather today, whilst I was at work the wifes Vectra is now a total loss as it got fully submerged.

The Zed was garaged but took a fair bit of water as well, managed to get it started and it drives and runs fine, but has a few inches of water in it.

Are there any drain holes I can open to get the worst of the water out before getting it cleaned up?

Good luck with that. Mine flooded and is now scrapped! The water was everywhere and all the wiring and ecu's are near the floor.

Get the interior and anything else removable out and get it dry, then thoroughly inspect wiring etc.

Fingers crossed for you

one word insurance mate

i had a similar prob while driving and got a new engine on the insurance

if it is a drain hose the pull the drivers side fuse box itll most probabl be soking on the back side..if left unchecked the next stage of the water ingestion will be the window wiper/heater/stereo n clock will stop working

Shoot a hole in the floor! Saw that on top gear once..

Id go with Voddys idea. Towels (or bail it out) and a good heater.

Are you due more bad weather?

Hire an undustrial dehumidifier for 48 hours, leave it on in the garage with car windows open, and targa top of if you have that option.

even better if you can get the dehumidifier in the car.

HTH

Well I run a flood restoration company so may have some tips. If u go the insurance route, they will likely write it off.

Water is a *******, gets everywhere. Like Ryan says, get a dehum in their. U don't need it in the car, you can vent it into the car via the window and vent it out again. 48hrs ain't enought though. Let it run for a week.

I would get the carpet out though to be really sure.

In the meantime I would disconnect the battery. Water only effects electrics if it is on. We regularly clean electronics by full submersion. If it is completely dry before powering up, you will have no issues.

or fix the problem..yea sure you can do all of the above but its like putting a plaster on a stab wound...

if its the drains fix it if its the heater matrix bypass it ill you can fix it..

i left mine unchecd ovr the winter when i opend her up again i had to spnd a smal fortune on relays and time spent cleaning mould of of the interior

long story shot find where the water is coing from n fix it

By some miracle all the electrics are fine, the water was just below the level of the relays, ecu, etc.

Just need to get it all dried out and then a good valet, could have been worse if it was sitting where the Vectra used to sit!

To get the carpet out I take it it is just the seats I would have to front seats I would have to remove?

I have been lucky enough to have had a problem today and have discovered an ideal drain hole postion.. pull the carpet back passenger side and infront of the wooden kick board (well its wooden in my car) there is a moulded rubber bung in the floor.

Well got the seats and the rest of the wet interior out today, got most the carpet out, underlay/ sound deadening material is stuffed so ripped all that out and binned.

Dound 4 plug holes and removed the rubber stops and got the worst of the water out, wet vacced the rest.

Forecast is good next few days so leaving it sitting with the doors open and targas off to dry out more.

Could have been worse, looks like all I will need is a ton of patience and more underlay/ sound deadening material.

The water was sitting about half and inch under the ECU and other bits, so very lucky in that regard.

would defo hire a dehumidifier, wont cost much and will do a great job. you will see :P

Hey up Daz, you still in Airdrie ?

Alan......

I'm up at Upperton, where the Longriggend Remand Unit used to be mate, was a disaster area here on Friday,4 houses flooded, wifes car almost fully submerged and the Zed took a fair drink as well.

Wish I was still in Burnfoot!

Hi bud, I'm dealing with a few houses in upperton. I could pop in and check the zed if u want. I'd happily lend u a dehum FOC
