Any of these could be changed in theory, although some more likely than others :

Visual differences :

Front Indicators location

Front foglights

Headlight washer in front bumper

Nissan or Z logo on Nose panel

Rear numberplate shape.

Rear fogs in bumper

Side reflectors on Rear bumper

Seatbelts on pillars or doors (if pre 93)

Speedometer in MPH or KPH with mmhg or Psi pressure dials.

Sport/Hold button if Automatic

Electric mirror fold-in

Rear 3-point seatbelts

All UK models were Twin Turbo, Long wheel base only and manufactured from 89 to 94.

Imports avaiable in TT, NA, LWB, SWB, Slicktop, Convertible and manufactured from 89 to 2000.

I'd use the headlight washers as the biggest clue even if they've been deleted I doubt anyone would go to the trouble of removing or replacing the washer button on the r/h pod!!

ps what number plate shape, square rather than long is an import?

Yeh, Jap uses Square. UK Rectangle. My post just listed the differences, rather than specifyign which is which....I'll update it with more detail :

Front Indicators location (On UK they are in the center and the outsides lenses are dummys. On the Import they are in the outer lenses)

Front foglights (Import has front fogs. UK does not, it has indicators and sidelights in the same place instead)

Headlight washer in front bumper (UK only)

Nissan or Z logo on Nose panel (UK = nissan logo. Import = Z logo i

Rear numberplate shape. (Uk = Rectange. Import=Square)

Rear fogs in bumper (UK only)

Side reflectors on Rear bumper (Import only)

Seatbelts on pillars or doors (if pre 93) (UK = Pillar. Import = Pillar. After Late 92 they are all on the Pillar)

Speedometer in MPH or KPH with mmhg or Psi pressure dials. (Uk =mph & psi. Import = kph & mmHg)

Sport/Hold button if Automatic (Import only)

Electric mirror fold-in (Import only)

Rear 3-point seatbelts (UK only)

slight correction below

The easiest way to check if it's a uk model is whether it's covered in rust! Haha (/runs)

Just a few to add:

Heated seats =UK

Flare in pax footwell = JDM

Fuse box cover ident label = if it's in Japanese its a uk spec, if it's English then it's an import!

Front number plate has a moulded mount on a uk spec

All uk spec had blue window tints, JDM are bronze (unless the car was blue?)

If it hasn't got an 89 spec spoiler, it's JDM

The fuel flap hinges from the front on a uk spec and rear on a JDM...

uk spec and jdm spec have different targa blinds......uk ones are a bit smaller cos of the rubber strip along the front edge.

mines supposedly a UK spec, i have mph the correct pressure guages and headlamp washers... however i swapped my indicator lights around and removed the dummies for front fogs :) and yes rust is an issue :) hence ive just replaced the brake pipes and fuel tank.

The fuel flap hinges from the front on a uk spec and rear on a JDM...

Eh??? Thats a new one on me

Hi Marty, nah, just sitting in my living room looking out into the garden at that Zed on stilts, and i cant remember for the life of me whether it was an Import or not, from the answers, looks like it's a JDM import.

Rich.

Big thanks to all for your replies, apart from having a combination of UK spec parts and JDM spec parts, which left me confused, i think he best way to judge, was the fact that the inside had lots of Japanese written instructions all over the place...

Rich`

Yeh sorry... Made that one up :wacko:

slight correction below

Oh yeh, typo, that should read :

Seatbelts on pillars or doors (if pre 93) (UK = Pillar. Import = Door. After Late 92 they are all on the Pillar)

Jap can have these too.

for 93 onwards. Forgot to add that. pre-93 the Imports had lapbelts. Think its 93 anyway, might not have been till the later 95 changes.
