Most are installed behind the dash itself - as in behing the speedo/rev cluster - it's just a little black box!

...didn't reply earlier as I thought everyone else would. Mines a silver box smaller than a match box, couple of wires coming out of it, and it's placed on top of the speedo / rev counter dials - you remove the two screws that hold the dash 'lid' in place, lift off the 'lid' and there for all the world to see is the speed converter. If it's rattling about, wrap it in foam.

 

Though about removing mine for a trip to France recently but didn't cos it would record more 'miles' than I'd actually done.

If it was originaly fitted by a tosser like mine then he may have wired it in near the ECU - causing all sorts of problems
