im sure there was one around here somewhere but i cant seem to find it any more, im going to get started on by putting the dreaded clutch pedal and brake pedal in, but before i got destroying the inside of my car, i need to know how easy it is to get that metal plate off the fire wall. thats all im interested in, so anyone who has done the manual conversion and had to remove that plate (you know what im on about if you have done it) how did you go about it?

Click image for video, pretty much a small video for those that struggle getting the clutch pedal assembly in place due to the thick wiring loom at the top, man i sound strange in that video lol

Good description! Thats exactly how I used to do the clutch pedal. That damn loom has so little movement and sits right in the way.

I know some fit it without going near the clocks, but if your Big then working under the dash can be a real struggle and any extra play you can get from the top the better.

Thought id do a video to help people rather than pictures as never quite get what someone is on about with images lol

Do you still need a set of flywheel bolts Vods? PM me if you do, can sort you a set out, still got some left from a bulk buy for my own, have sold them to a few folk on here, 12.9 high tensile, as per OEM....

ok just to say Ian ... all my Items turned up this morning so sunday is out for me

engine build plus i have grand kids birthday party on the sunday evening as well

think its all just bad timing .... :(

no worries bud, had a bout of feeling like crap today other wise id be down at the car getting the autobox off right now. think i can rope one of my unsuspecting mates into the fray lol

if your still at a loose end on Wed next i will be off work ..

see if i can get Artztogo at your place to fit his New Rad at the same time

that may work out well for both of u

Think u can get away with wing with a length of pipe, and one way valve like the one on brake servo pipe.

Never touched no relays, just earthed one wire to make starter work,

can earth neutral switch for 15%btdc ignition timing or leave it and set to 25%btdc.

All the neutral switch seems to do is raise the revs tiny bit when in gear with foot on clutch.

Run the reverse lights with length of wire from switch to wires behind drivers headlight.

The reverse lights I never had wired up on my car, and will not cause problems on mot or anything, well they never did on mine.

Was told by inspector I work with they don't come into it.

So main thing to worry about is speed sensor and wire for starter.

Been a while since doing one so can't remember colours of wires.

Did u get pilot bush. That's important.

And speed sensor plugs in.

Have u got a manual balance bar, or u may have to try and tee into brake servo pipe.

Either way get a couple meters of hose, and one way valve and put one end on clutch servo, cut hose again put one way valve In then wind it up into circle cable tie it and tuck it between boost gauge sender and master cylinder. Then put other end of pipe on manual balance bar or try tee into brake servo pipe.

Take it blue relay is the one under passanger wing never messed with that, I earthed mine to clutch slave bolt.

Sure I just plugged the speed sensor on,

your have wires left over for other bits and I touched them to earth 1 by 1 until starter worked.

Then wire reverse lights and earth neutral switch at ecu don't hold me to it but sure it's pin 44.

didnt get started today, felt like crap, kept getting really dizzy standing up more than 10mins, think i got a bug or something, but hoping the bolts turn up tomorrow in the post then going to get on and do it regardless of if its raining or not.

already got the pilot bushing in the engine, as it was a manual engine, it came with one in it, i just fitted the auto one over the top rather than knocking it out as it didn't interfere and i was planing on a conversion anyway, though when i get the auto one out, if its damaged ill get a replacement.

Hopefully your be better tomorrow mate.

If pilot bush looks ok just whack a little grease in there.

Has said u should get away without wings off, the length of pipe is only a storage.

Instead of canister and pipework.

i got no choice with getting it done with out the wings coming off, as cant take them off with out removing the side skirts + front bumper.

think i got a mate coming to help get the gearbox mounted though, should be fun. ill try and get some pictures as i go or even a video but would really depend on the weather.

If I was closer I'd help too, but your too far lol.

The box is the easy bit, clutch changes are really quick 3ish hrs start to finish laying on my back on my own too.

It's all the Fiddly bits that take time, pedals, wires.

What u doing about clutch pipe work from master to slave, u ain't using oem pipe are u with bleed nipple near headlight.

Thats a pain, use braided hose direct or make one from copper pipe with flaring tool.

But use The standar rubber flexi part from body to box.

its braided already, still got the fluid in too so probably no need to bleed it lol.

pedal is already in, just need to whoop me exhaust off, undo prop and change that, undo gearbox bolts and torque converter bolts, drop the box off once the gear selector is undone, and swap it all out. fill the manual box up with oil and put the rest back on the car. then its just a case of sorting out the wiring and job should be a good un.

was feeling a little better this morning, so forced my self out to the car, well its currently got its new flywheel attached, and no gearbox just yet. will be tackling that in a moment, but gear lever is plumbed in ready for the gearbox to be offered up to it.

I'm just the electrics away from starting the car, I have a Gray plug from my auto loom down near the gear box that I don't know about, am I right in thinkin I just need to bridge that connector? And also I couldnt get a T connecter to plumb the clutch vacuum in, will I still be able to change gear with it disconnected to go grab one?

single grey connector plug? starter motor

red plug is speed sensor

next grey plug along on the gearbox (quite high up) is neutral switch, which needs connecting up then wiring altering at front of car, as you only need to use 2 pins. The last plug isn't used as its for the overdrive on the auto.

IIRC LOL HTH

Thanks to zx-TT for not only the gearbox and the quick ring, markdarby and his lads, plus all the help from here, she starts woot now to get her off the ramps and she of she goes lol

sweet, think i defo need to plumb that clutch vacuum in though, its like there is no gradual bite, its either on or off lol, think im going to be stalling it for the first couple of days till i get used to driving a manual again, but boy does she rev fast now, only gave it light foot to give her throat a bit of a clear and almost put the rev needle through to next week.
