im sure there was one around here somewhere but i cant seem to find it any more, im going to get started on by putting the dreaded clutch pedal and brake pedal in, but before i got destroying the inside of my car, i need to know how easy it is to get that metal plate off the fire wall. thats all im interested in, so anyone who has done the manual conversion and had to remove that plate (you know what im on about if you have done it) how did you go about it?

there is a wire loom right at the top that kinda gets in the way ... if u take off the dail surround top cover on dash u can see down inside where the peddle go's

Yeah I know about that, seems I'm missing the switches on the clutch pedal do I need them? I've angle grinder that top lip off the pedal as well but seems the clutch booster is being a pain in the arse

nope ... u dont need them unless u want to start the engine with clutch down ... but its no biggy just remember to short out the 2 wires on the relay under the wheel arch cover on drivers side

think its white/black yellow/black

have you cut the brake peddle down or fitted new manual one ?

u can ring me if u need any more info

oh yeah i forgot about all that ... its best to whip that out too ... lol

yeah giving me loads more room lol, doh!, only thing now is all the damn after market wires going on, break pedal has been switched but i left the old assembly in and just changed the pedal instead as it was easier than fanny arsing about. not too bad almost done.

once this is done, then its a case of doing the gearbox, but looks like im missing some bolts :( 2 fly wheel to crank bolts and 2 clutch housing to fly wheel bolts so need to get some replacements, though not sure how thats going to work as i got a RPS clutch housing and these bolts look different to the ones on my other manual conversions.

right, clutch pedal in, break pedal in, car still in bits as its now raining and my legs were getting wet lol.

are you sure the fly wheel to crank and drive plate to crank bolts are the same between the auto and manual? i aways thought they were different?

As for the clutch housing, the only other option would be as the bolts for the clutch plate cover are done up in 3's, so 9 bolts in total, i could always remove one bolt, and have 2 bolts per 3rd. to balance it out. other wise i gotta find a replacement from somewhere, though really do not like the idea of 6 bolts holding a clutch plate cover on.

no ... auto > manual have diffrent bolts .... think autos are slightly shorter

i will go and size them up

aah feck sake, think its £90 for some brand spanking new ones and i only need one, so £10 per bolt, jesus.

but would rather have the extra hands to get it up.

typical dirty minded bugger

Is there a RPS direct website or something so i can email them and see if they do spare bolts?

Here ya go

crank 28mm

fly 18mm

but is the auto (flywheel bolts) different lengths to the manual flywheel bolts? thats the question. as ill have 8 spare when i remove my auto box, if they are the same length (doubt it, the auto's looks thinner so bolts are shorter id imaging) its going to put a halt on getting the gearbox on. Mark what are you doing this weekend? or are you working on your motor.

is the Flywheel stranded Zed ?

nope its a fidenza lightweight flywheel, but from the looks of it, using OEM bolts to bolt it to the crank

  • Author
the Bolt thickness will be the same its the length that differs ....

what clutch u got

well, not sure if this is how its supposed to be, but its a RPS streetmax clutch housing, with a Nissan (so can only presume its OEM) clutch friction disk.

sorted then, well, hardest parts out the way, now just need to change the gearbox, though is quite amusing have 3 pedals in a auto.
