OK thats it actually getting sick of this now.

Well having changed my fan clutch this morning everything was going great, thought id take the car out for a test to see if the new clutch fan would have a say in how hot my car got.

Drove to kettering, all of a sudden the gearbox decided it didn't want to change gear and for some reason my engine temp was very erratic, going from 84 to 103 then back down depending on if i was going around a corner or not.

so limped the car home, turned the engine off only to notice smoke and the smell of burning plastic coming from around the battery area of the engine. on closer inspection the cable tie holding the engine loom in place had snapped (most likely from age) and the burning smell was actually my engine loom cooking away on the passenger side turbo.

how pissed off am i at this very moment in time.

Now i really am considering selling / breaking her. getting sick to the hind teeth of repairing one thing after another with no let up in site.

So if anyone is interested drop me a PM with your offer, i wont lie about what needs doing to her but she does have a lot of good stuff, so serious offers only, she does have tax and test.

I think I know what you mean.

I will be making a start tonight on my right side outer hicas ball joint after making a bit of a hash of it the first time.

Actually looking forward to it in a bizarre sort of way.

Strange!

Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the hose repair, hope all goes well.

Hose is repaired now, but think i might actually upgrade to some silicone tubing and do as many as i can reach.

Next up is manual conversion and get some gears back on the old girl.

After that its new rear tyres

Repair panels for the rear sills and arches. then off for a spot of welding, followed by a change of looks and a respray though that will most likely be after JAE now.

Quick update at stupid o'clock in the morning, had a visit from steams today, was good to see you again bud.

Decided to go check on the car, took him for a spin in it to show him what was happening, after a drive we pulled up, whooped the dipstick out of the gearbox and didn't really have to bring it to your nose, you could smell the burnt oil on it. so something inside the gearbox is heating the oil and burning it. no doubt this is also adding to the heating issues ive experienced recently, though the split hose seems to of cooled the situation.

anyway off to collect the manual on Sunday so then its a case of getting the car changed from auto to manual.

Have a feeling the torque converter has destroyed its self because of the lock up solenoid fault.

off for some welding ??....thought you would have been a pro yourself by now Ian :)

manual gearbox conversion you will need an uprated clutch as well , the stock items slip like buggery on anything over 350 bhp

good luck with it fella

since coming back from Jeffs the gearbox is whinning like a little spoilt girl and im not sure what fly wheel and clutch is fitted in there now ...maybe Jeff can remember
