My Twin Turbo has a misfire on cylinder # 4. Me & Mikey Bean had a look today to try and resolve it, so far we've tried changing coilpacks, spark plugs, PTU, cleaned up coil pack connector, can hear injector ticking like all the others.

Where can I go from here? Can someone give me an idea of what to try next please? Got bits kicking around if I need to swap things like ECU etc. :shifty:

Any input would be most appreciated thanks :thumbup1:

cheers bolt yeah I read that on the Robo site so thats my first check :)

Ooh think I may have found it thanks to bolt's advice...

Injector # 4 has a high resistance - a reading of 36ohms, all the others are about 12ohm.

Is this confirmation enough to condemn that injector and say its that whats causing my misfire? :)

Hey Mikey...........

Soz for the late reply buddy.........

I am running a standard ECU with a socket for an eprom chip. I have 2 chips for my 550 injectors, 1 supplied from John Dixon and 1 supplied from Zedworld.

HTH matey........

Yes Dave, checked the resistance across all the injector terminals, one was considerably higher than the rest, so changed it and it was sorted

Where'd you source the injector?

Standard or something else?

I'm looking at just swapping the one for a standard injector using some cunning Dremel work on the plenum. Just wondered if a new one from Nissan would come with the relevant O-rings and stuff or if I gotta buy them seperate too.

  • Author

I sourced the replacement standard injector from my garage, and theres a few more in there too ;)

If going new i'm sure the o rings would come with it, but it wont be cheap!

Yeah I think I've got 3 good ones left. £20 delivered for one, £30 for two, £40 for three :)

square plugs, and yeah they work, proof is in the test results, proving there is no breakdown inside which causes them to fail.

Please.

If anybody wants toi check an injectors firing in the car, remove the spark plug and injector plug, trigger it with a 9 volt battery and some wire, using a torch you will see the fuel atomising into the cylinder.
