i dont get insurance

can get a 1.8 sxi vectra off me mate for £280 (just needs a tailgate), went for an insurance quote expecting about £300 (the M3 was only £715) they came back with a quote of £580, some were well over £600

got me thinking how much insurance would be for a zed TT, was holding me breath for the worst and it came back with a quote of £480

how the fook is a shitty vectra worth £300 nearly £600 to insure?

i just dont get it, so now im looking for a zed, if anyone sees a good one going for £300 i will have it lol

yeah.... nuts!!!!.... i think they have some strange grading system....

how many of the car type are involved in accidents, location and likelihood of theft / damage plus some other crap.... and bang!!1 a cheap heap can cost more that a 300zx ....

Insurance is a game of Risk.

Statistically speaking a vectra like that one is more likely to hit something, be hit by something, be stolen, spend more time on the road, cover greater distances and be popular to a certain age demographic than the Z.

As far as Insurance companies are concerned, it's not the value of the car that's important, it's the liklelihood that covering that car will cost them money.

Insured the zed last week, my renewal was 379 fully comp, protected no claims ans unlimited mileage etc.......down 300 on last year! :)

You said it mate - the roads are full of Mondeos, Vectras etc all having accidents; but a rare car like the 300zx is not commonly involved in smashes, thefts etc so presents a lower risk. Plus many 300zxs are owned by careful club members who cherish their cars - unlike the company car driver in his Mondeo or Passat or the like; who couldn't care less about the car and hits anything/everything!!!

Do it Allan - you've got the sensible family wagon for Shell......

PS disclaimer - Richard denies all responsibility for leading Allan astray.......:tongue_smilie:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My oil burner vectra estate 1.9cdti costs me £440 full comp that's with 5years ncb. It's dearer to insure than my old Vectra GSi with 200bhp was :(
