If I get a carputer installed, what type of connection does the Z32 have, to give out readings and diagnostics?

 

I know how to create the GTR Digi Display using the OBDII connection, but have just realised the 300zx doesnt have OBDII.

 

This is the sort of look I would be going for:

I would like to get the dash flocked in black, for a suede effect, which wont peel and then have the center console customized, and wrapped in leater with a contrasting double stitch, to surround the screen and heater slots, right the way down through to the gearbox surround.

 

 

Anyway, if anyone can offer help or advice how to get the signals to feed to the carputer by RS232, usb or parallel, how and where to wire from and the type of connection I would use etc... it would be much appreciated.

Cant seem to find OBDi cables anywhere :s

 

I think the software is going to be the easisest bit to do lol

I found 2, need to know if they will work though. And is this ok to get live engine feeds / accurate live data?

Using either of the cables listed above, in conjunction with this SOFTWARE

 

Guess all I need now is a mini ITX pc, or one of those little EEE PCs as the software is not mac compatible.

 

and a decent monitor. preferably something sleek. this is something I have to do now. - will also incoropate itunes into it one way or another and make a how to guide when I get to it :D

grrrrrr. Im going to go insane. OBDi doesn give a boost pressure reading :(

yeh Nissan Datascan is a great piece of software for what you want. I used to be the UK reseller for them, years ago, its been very popular with club members.

 

I used to deal with Blazt for the USB and RS232 Conzult cables, but I think they may have shut down. I suspect they ebay ones will be fine, but not used them myself.

Good Question Rob. Would like to get a mac mini setup. not much difference in size to a single din, and could get a 3g USB connection in the back :P

 

Would be awesome. Just get a power invertor and a monitor and your away, you could even get an apple Magic track pad flush fitted where the ashtray is.....

No, if your reading from the Conzult port then it can only read the sensors the ECU reads, and the ECU does not read Boost.

its long gone now unfortunately, and was a total PITA to do! Cutting, fibreglass, filler, sanding...etc

kk, looks like im gonna have to buy a spare lmao.

 

I like the matt black standard finish, so will prob spray it in matt black when done. although i more of a dark matt grey :S
